Complex fruity aroma with hints of melon and spices. Rounded melon flavours with just a bit of spices (including cinnamon?) A great Italian Belgian ale. JorisPPattyn (5193), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 14, 2008 Hazy beer, small rim left. Citric nose, lemonbalm, chalk. Nutty taste, malts, ending dull-bready. Very carbonated MF, sharpish. Alchohol, very lightly. Bit indifferent, not one one would get crazy about. MartinT (5080), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 11, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Honeyed malts tend to supercede the herbal, citrusy hops in this clean and well-made strong ale.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the hazy blond.
-The body is round, and these residual sugars seem to provide the bulk of the flavors.
-A subtle spiciness stems from the hops in the finish.
-Carbonation is soft, which usually helps drinkability, but alcohol warmth warns you that this is no session beer.
-The honeyed sweetness verges on being caramelized.
