Lovely spicy malt in the aroma with good fruity notes and faint smokiness. Peaty and smoky flavour that could probably do with a little more malt but remains reasonably balanced. Restrained but pleasant enough smoked character with a spicy hint to the finish. Very clean and dry in the mouth. A reasonable smoked beer. thewolf (5808), Kolding, Denmark

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Dec 21, 2006 Small yellow head, fast gone; dark orange colour, lot’s of UFO’s. Shoepolish, varnish, very uninviting - to put it mildly - nose. Tarry taste, phenols abound, on the verge of absurd. Long aftertaste, but if there’s some alcoholburn, it switches to a Lapsang Souchong quality, nearly saving the beer. Sorry, but the onslaught is too terrible to drink freely. maeib (4766), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England
