Commercial Description:
Shangrila was the first creation from Birrificio Troll. It is of dark amber color and has a persistent head and with its 8.5 alc./vol. it warms the palate and the heart. Shangrila is brewed using malt, English hops and a mixture of spices from the Himalayas: tandori (Blend of coriander, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, ginger, cardamom, saffron), curry, pepper, anise. Shangrila is a complex full bodied beer with exotic scents and an intense flavor. Shangrila is a perfect companion for meats of every type, especially ones grilled over charcoal. It also pairs very well with fine cheeses.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a hazy with floating yeast chunks brown colored body. The aroma was spicy and herb. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The good flavor contained notes of somewhat subdued spices and brown malt. An OK brew just nothing special.

Pours a dark cloudy ruby/ chestnut brown color with a thick, foamy tan head. Spicy peppery aroma with lots of dark fruit, candi sugar and nut. Very spicy and quite different tasting. Very peppery wirth dark fruit notes as well as some sweet candi sugar and a slightly bitter hop finish that is quite dry. Similar to an Xmas ale with an odd aftertaste.

Ambrat di colore con discreta e persistente schiuma questa piemontese...aroma dolce e speziato di zenzero, forse un pò acido. In bocca è altrettanto speziata con richiami forse di the orientali.Ben bilanciata.Discreta.

On tap at OBriens, ruby orange with no head, fairly spiced and thick malt aroma, taste is like a sweet, malty, rich saison, medium-bodied with low carb and some warming heat, an interesting variant that suffers from lack of balance.

ON tap at O’Briens. Color was a clear amber with not much head. Aroma of spice, caramel, yeast, vanilla, and bread; a bit of gingerbread. Flavor like chai tea or gingerbread. Spice, yeast with some developing grape and fruit. Alcohol was well hidden for 8.5

On tap at the Ginger Man, NYC. Definitely spicy with almost a rum drink look and taste. Perhaps undercarbonated (or an underpressure keg).. a good "food" beer but I couldn’t imagine how long it would take me to drink a whole pint.
