Commercial Description:
Shangrila was the first creation from Birrificio Troll. It is of dark amber color and has a persistent head and with its 8.5 alc./vol. it warms the palate and the heart. Shangrila is brewed using malt, English hops and a mixture of spices from the Himalayas: tandori (Blend of coriander, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, ginger, cardamom, saffron), curry, pepper, anise. Shangrila is a complex full bodied beer with exotic scents and an intense flavor. Shangrila is a perfect companion for meats of every type, especially ones grilled over charcoal. It also pairs very well with fine cheeses.

Bottle: A strong amber brown beer. Light but interesting aroma, and the beer is sweet, but at the same time dry. Like a bigger, better de koninck, I thought. An original beer and possible style too. Greatly appreciate breweries making such efforts to establish their own style, rather than imitating beer styles of more well known beer countries.

Pours a dark, hazy, amber with a beige head. The aroma has licorice, curry, ginger, cumin, and caramel. Flavor is dominated by the spices and has a pronounced licorice, curry, and ginger notes. There is a slight touch of caramel malt and no hops. Complex upon the palate with the various spices.

Anise like aroma with caramel notes. Pours orange. The flavor is actually minty, some citrus, hints of corriander. Actually very enjoyable.

this was interesting. pours a hazy amber with a very large creamy yellowish head. aroma of pepper, alcohol, plum, and some other unidentified dark fruits. flavor is of curry, licorice, alcohol, tomatoes, plastic, chili powder, cinnammon and pink bubblegum? sounds gross. very odd beer here. different but not sure i’d drink this often. definitely warms the throat. strange plastic flavor loses points.

Bottle. Spicy nose and palate.Notes of cinnamon and ginger throughout. Some light caramelly sort of sweetness, with a slight meaty character. Soft and quite spicy, with a dry finish. very interesting.

Bottle... Murky amber ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. Perfumey, sweet nose with lots of malt, spices and herbs. Sweet, fruity flavor is also perfumey and spicy. Medium-bodied with soft carbonation. Odd! Thanks to argo0 for providing this strange brew!
