arhythmt (67), USA Feb 20, 2008 Absolutely wonderful on tap! Well worth seeking out...very rich, a tiny bit sweet but not seriously sweet. Good stuff. Erdinger2003 (125), Ames, Iowa, USA Dec 23, 2007 11.2 oz bottle
Label has a man laughing and holding a glass of beer.
Pours a nice head that falls into a thin layer and a nice lacing.
Smell is very nice: dark, coffee flavors and dark fruit undertones with some spicyness.
Taste is very smooth and refreshing, it doesn’t have the hard coffee flavors of a regular stout, but it has different flavors of nutmeg and dark fruit tones that are very good. It also has a strong pepper flavor due the higher alcohol content.
Mouthfeel is very enjoyable and smooth. It floats down my throat very nicely.
I really enjoyed this stout and without a doubt will have another one. DerBiermeister (362), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Dec 9, 2007 Updated: Dec 23, 2007This beer smells terrific. It smells kind of nutty and sweet. The appearance bears a remarkable resemblance to Guinness, but with a slightly less foamy head. The flavour is sweet and nutty too, with a slightly bitter aftertaste, but tastefully so. The palate is not overly complex and well balanced, not tasting overly of alcohol, as some stronger beers are prone to do. Overall: Quality brew. dwyerpg (2032), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Mar 30, 2006 Smells stouty. Thi is nice. Definitely sweeter than most stouts but it isn’t light either. My first Belgian stout I must give a thumbs up to. A little dryness in the head but decent throughout. harrisoni (5109), Ashford, Kent, England Feb 27, 2006 Bottle at Paters Vaetje, Antwerp. Very dark brown/cloudy with thick beige head. Dry malt aroma with choc and camp coffee. Some raisin. Nice choc and fruit in mouth with grainy dry finish. Bit of vinous in mouth. Really excellent beer, wonderful in mouth, just needs a bit more complexity.
