Suttree (2265), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA May 5, 2008 Black, with a foamy head that collapses to a small island. Mellow but nice aroma - milky, chocolatey, fruity. Flavoris subtle but enjoyableFruity, but also winey and coffee-esque, too. Rich and tasty, very easy to drink.
Beer_Hawk (628), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Jul 16, 2008 Bottle (Best by 09/02/09). Poured a reddish brown with a creamy tan head that left good lacing. The aroma is sweet with a dark fruit and malt balance. The flavor adds to the sweet fruitiness with some spices and roast backed with light alcohol. Medium body with a sweet yet roasty aftertaste. JK (2355), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Jul 15, 2008 An interesting hybrid. Kind of an English malt character but with Belgian yeast. Roasted malt and nuts. Big frothy head and black in color. A nice beer, but shouldn’t it be an imperial at this abv? RomanW70 (270), Providence, Rhode Island, USA Jul 15, 2008 Had 6/20 at Dulle Griet in Gent. Pors dark ruby caramel with a minimal tan head and beautiful lacing. Roast aroma full of dark fruits and caramel. taste is fairly complex with some vineous notes. Don’t know that I’d call this a stout. Pretty thick mouthfeel. GJF (190), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA Jul 13, 2008 Someone below referred to it as "awkward" which seems right to me. It’s got a great aroma, and there are lots of flavors here, but I can’t quite tell what it wants to be--trying too much to be a bit of everything? Roasty, yeasty, hoppy, malty, fruity, with a bit of cola in the mix. Very interesting, but just doesn’t fully come together for me. jredmond (583), New Jersey, USA Jul 11, 2008 Bottle. One of the stouts I’ve personally most enjoyed. Pours a dark body with small off-white lacing. The aroma is slightly roasty. The flavor is also roasty - but with a spritzer carbonation similar to Unibroue beers. Couldn’t really taste the alcohol either.
