Commercial Description:
An ultra-premium all-malt and traditional German-style ale at 5% alc./vol. Deep copper to light brown colour with an aromatic focus on malt elements of fresh baked biscuits and toast. Malt initially dominates the palate with typical Altbier flavours of biscuits, followed by an intense yet pleasant hop bitterness. A slightly dry body and reduced ale fruitiness is achieved by extended deep-cold aging. Can be served with beef soups, spinach salad, roast chicken, pork tenderloin, falafel, chocolate cake, and smoked cheeses.

On tap at One Duke. From memory, so I’ll provide a less detailed account of just my overall impression. Milder flavour than I expected. Inoffensive and balanced. Many grains. I’d have enjoyed a stronger bitterness. Easy to drink.

341 ml bottle from a trade with jessem. pours deep red with a small white head. fruity aroma, some pale malt, some biscuit, floral hops. the flavour is malt forward and quite fruity. its swet of front but there is adequate hopping in the finish. of all the True North brews this is the second hoppiest and this is really true to style. these guys really know how to brew.

341mL bottle from a 12 pack, from the BS (by some rip in the time-space continuem, they got fresh stock of TN’s stuff). Pours a clear copper with a medium beige head. The aroma is quite nice, some nutty malts, crispness, pale and chrystal malts, a hint of hops but really nothing stands out much. A sublte hint of spices is in there too which is quite nice and true to style. The flavour though, wow, big time chewy nutty malts! Tasty! Caramalts, biscuits, very sweet but extremely well rounded in the finish with some very good hop flavours, dryness and a touch of Earthyness. Awesome mouth-feel, slick but crips and refreshing. Wow, some minor fruity esters in here too. This is so well done! I can’t believe how lucky I got in finding a fresh pack!

Draught @ One Duke, Hamilton. Clear copper with excellent lacing. Fruity and nutty with some dark sugars in aroma. Super clean andn really good palate. Nutty, mellow, mild. Understated, super-sessionable and good.

** re-rate notes ** great worty-grainly flavors and good balance of malt and hop. Great earthy vibe and nice feel. Numbers still worthy. /// ORIG rate Very interesting, on tap at Volo. Mineral and a bit funky like brie rind, high sour note, some fruit in the malts, fine hoopy bitter end note. Good and unusually serious beer for Ontario.

341 mL bottle. Orange-copper beer with a small beige head - fades to a thick ring after a minute or two. I’m honestly not sure that I could add a lot to the "commercial description" - it’s just about bang on. This is a fresh, malty beer with a dryish bittler finish. Good summer beer.

Copper - obviously - in colour with a minor head. Nice malty aroma with some nuttiness. Tasty - some sweet maltiness that turned into a dark chocolate bitterness. Finished with a hint of hops. Nicely complex and fully recommended.
