Commercial Description:
An ultra-premium all-malt classic English-style India Pale Ale at 6.5% alc./vol. Enticing deep gold colour. Nutty malt aromatic nuances with spicy, grassy and fruity hop aromas achieved by dry hopping. Spicy, grassy and fruity hop flavours are combined with an assertive bitterness and mellow smooth malt flavour. Typical yeast-derived ale fruitiness and warming alcohol make this India Pale Ale a true-to-style classic. Enjoy with mulligatawny soup, roast beef, meat pies and stews, cajun fish, curry dishes and spicy foods, haggis, and strong cheddar and blue cheeses.

A hazed golden IPA with a thin white head. A light caramel aroma with light floral hops. In mouth, a more interesting IPA with nice floral hops, light grapefruits, some biscuitty malts, some lingering bitterness, quite quaffable. A good introductory IPA from Ontario.

341 ml bottle in a 12-pack from TBS, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear deep golden with a so-so white head. Aroma: Fairly citrusy, kinda piney hops, some nice fruitiness, lighter caramel, brown sugar, a bit earthy and dusty, lightly medicinal, generally quite British. Palate: Medium body, almost no carbonation. Flav.: Stark, British malts, lightly citrusy and quite earthy hops, a bit dusty, nowhere near the fruit and sweet malts of the nose, still a little brown sugar, some toast/biscuit; dry with some bitterness.

Not bad. I think it was better as Magnotta, maybe?

smell is of toffee with hops and grass. colour is gold, it has a bit of an alcohol feel to it at the end, bready and thick and just slightly citrusy hops. it has a full mouthfeel, it is quite affordable and considering the fact that you can tell alot of effort went into this, i am really looking forward to trying the other styles from this brewery!

Acquired in a trade with matt7215. Pours an orangey yellow with a small white head. Aroma is musty and has a lot of grass and pine. Other scents are soft fruit, pepper, and honey. Earthy, grassy hops dominate the palate with honey and pine. This is most defiantly a true to form IPA. Really nice! Thanks Matt!

341ml bottle from an in-person trade with matt7215, thanks Matt. Pours a much paler gold than I was expecting with a small white head that laces well. Aroma is very British Earthy hop driven, a lot like a really good ESB like Fuller’s, totally unexpected. Flavour is seriously Earthy hop driven, very dry but with sweet malts coming to balance it out. No sign of the higher abv at all, in fact this thing is so damn drinkable, I could put back boatloads of the stuff. For what this is it is just awesome and I’m glad to have tried a sample that isn’t as old as I am (my local BS doesn’t rotate stock of craft beers). Simple, but elegant, which is something I tend to enjoy. The more I have it the more it seems like it leans towards an American styled IPA, just a mild example. One of my favourite sessionable go-to beers.

341 ml bottle from the beer store. best before feb 22nd 2010. pours golden with a small white head and minimal carbonation. right from the pour you know this IPA is goin down easy. aromas are malt forward with english pale malts and slight floral hoppiness. the flavour is similar and in perfect balance. neither the hops or malt take anything away from each other but instead compliment one another in such a way that this beer is so much more then the sum of its parts. hella drinkable and a nice find on the ontario IPA scene.

Draught @ One Duke, Hamilton. Clear coppery gold with nice white head and lacing. Floral hop aroma with sweet fruits like peach. Smells balanced and light. Medium to high carbonation. A little gassy. Alcohol is detectable making it seem gin-like in its dryness. Some crisp citrus zest and a relatively short finish. Not my favorite flavor profile but nice.
