Commercial Description:
Cask & Bottled. Available all year round.
Pronounced bla-han in Gaelic the name of this ale translates as ’little blossom’.
A strong floral nose and refreshing taste has made this a very popular pint. A single hop variety is enhanced with elderflower and pale malts to great effect.

Bottle at Tom’s Tasting, April 2009. Very pale with floaties. Pleasant, distinctly flowery aroma. Soft mouthfeel with a just a hint of bitterness. A bit watery. There can be a fine line between delicate and insubstantial. This definitely seemed to me to be on the weedy side of the fence. Not bad but I would certainly have appreciated a bit more presence on the palate.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A hazy, golden beer with a small, white head. Flowery nose with some resins. Pale malts in the back. The flavor is also quite nice, but a bit uninspiring, flowery, with pale malts and some hops giving bitterness. Quite nice bitterness though. Medium body and a fine bitterness in the finish. Overall, it’s too flowery for my liking, but still a quite nice beer. 090822

Courtesy chzman. Gold. White head. Nice balance of floral, perfumey sweetness and bitter hops. Medium body. Light carbonation. Very easy to drink though it would benefit from a bit more carbonation.

It’s a hazy golden beer with notes of elderflower and malt. The flavor has notes of elderflower, malt, citrus and a decent bitterness. It’s uncomplicated and very refreshing.
