Commercial Description:
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

Watery Chinese lager. Pale yellow pour with a filmy white head, intense carbonation and no lacing. Lightly grassy aroma, crisp and decent. Horrid, empty mouth feel, finishes like stale crackers. Flavor is empty and bland, dull and boring. No redeeming qualities to think of, I sure hope this contains less lead than the toys that are being made over there.

21.6 oz bottle at a chinese restaurant in SB. Aroma is light but pure premium lager yeast. A surprisingly not unappetizing flavor, dry and lagery, much better than most American macros, it doesn’t have that corniness that you often find. Medium bodied and smooth (not crisp). It was a little less than half bad.

Maybe drank this too warm. Part of a an ’Asian selection’ pack. Malty aroma/taste came through, but just not as sharp and crisp to cut through nibbles or food as some others. (would take again though)

Weak head, virtually no aroma. Tastes very watered down. Dark Golden in color. How can they call this a beer? I’m not really liking this...

Oh, I’ve had many a Tsingtao in my college days. I’ve found this at best to be a decent light lager. At worst it seems like drinking perrier out of a rusted can. I actually prefer the beer called Tsingtao from Taiwan, which is made from a completely different company (that one tastes like a reasonable Danish lager). This one is actually the beer I drink most if having a beer in a Chinese restaurant ... light taste and relatively crisp hops tends to go well with that food.

Can (330ml). Yellow with little head. Some aroma of malt, maybe with grassy notes. Watery palate with moderate carbonation. Reasonable taste of malt with some hops in the finish. In 2009 I had this draught in Xi’an and would rate that more highly: 5,3,6,2,11 - Clear golden yellow with no head. Slightly malty aroma with a hint of hops. Medium body and carbonaion. The main impression of the flavour was that it was watery, but other than that there is nothing wrong with it, but there is also nothing exceptional about it. Somewhat malty with no bitterness. Served cold in 38C weather in Xi’an it was well recieved, but this is not a great beer.
