Commercial Description:
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

A 12 oz bottle with no born on or freshness date, but some cool Chinese righting on it. The beer poured a golden body with a two finger white head. The smell is of rice and grain. The taste is mild and bitter. Good carbonation and clean mouth taste.

33 cl bottle from Centra. Pale beer, plenyt of CO2. Full malty taste, but there is some bitterness, too. But the bitterness is not very pleasant, it is probably for hop extracts. With some more care, this could have been a decent pilsener.

12 oz bottle via Cost Plus World Market. Pours a clear golden blodne with almost no head. Nose is typical ’green body light stuck’ but not yet skunked. Taste is typical pale lager..ie bland with some malts and hops in there somewhere, and some grassiness. High carbonation. Light body. Thin mouthfeel. Watery. I would say this is a pale lager not a Premium Lager. As a Pale lager it is not bad. As a Premium lager, it is not good.

12oz at Jade; Matched perfectly with the Szechuan. Some sketchy chemical notes, formaldehyde comes to mind, on the palate. Something you get at the Chinese restaurant for the novelty.

Bottle. Yellow colour with a short bubbly white head. Aroma of grains and slight bit of malt. Flavour is waterish, grainy with hints of malt, dry thin finish. Very simple beer.

The other decent premium lager I’ve had is Kronenburg. This tsing is a 12 oz green bottle, label looks a little different than is displayed here. No skunk when I pop the top and it has a very clean mild aroma. Has bubbles constantly arising from the bottom and the color is typical pale clear yellow american beer. Very good decent first taste impression. Well behaved with above average carbonation tingle. Nice even taste that cannot be much different than american lagers. Has a bit of alky impact in there. Nothing really great but well behaved and enjoyable. No tremendous outstanding personality and some of us like it that way. Finish has a strange industrial mild bitterness to it that hangs on for a minute or two. However, it is not as industrial as King Lager. Better than sam adams boston lager and Saranac traditional lager.

(33 cl bottle at restaurant "Djingis Khan" in Stockholm, Sweden) Labeled 4.7%. Clear straw yellow color, white creamy head. Fruity and sweet malty scent with some marzipan. Thin watery malty taste. Low bitterness.
