Panzerfaust (393), Santiago, Chile Dec 5, 2006 Can 330 ml:
Pours a clear light golden color. Head is big white and frothy but dissolves fast. It leaves a tiny ring.
Aroma is lightly hoppy with german lager hops giving herbal and soft citrusy notes. Decent malty presence showing hints of cereal and fruits. Wait...now a little warmer I get fruits like banana...Belgian yeast? weird and unexpected.
Flavor is surprisingly decent. Soft and fruity. Sweet without bitter counterbalance. Touches of vanilla, banana and fresh herbs. I expected much worse. This doesn’t taste like a cheap swill lager at all.
Light body, watery texture. Low carbonation. Finish is short. Lagerish veggie aftertaste. Much better than I thought and went well with the chinese food (Chap Suey and Chaufan Rice) DanBerg (59), Alkmaar, Netherlands Dec 4, 2006 Pretty boring beer. Taste is nothing special. Metallic palate in the mouth. Bit watery, won’t drink this again in Holland. Maybe if I’m in China and there isn’t anything else. GuilTTy (527), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA Dec 4, 2006 Clear light golden pour under a very thin white head an no lacing. Modest citus notes in an otherwise weak aroma. Standard lager flavor profile with little to distinguish itself from other mass produced brews save for a tad more hops than most. Watery texture and no finish to speak of. If you’re looking for a mostly tasteless lager for your Chinese take out, this is a better choice than any of the American macros, but its still a weak beer. DrewTaylor (154), Michigan, USA Nov 26, 2006 Updated: Nov 28, 2006The beer had a gold color and a small white head. Decent carbonation. Good clean crisp, but lacking in the taste department Derek881 (486), Frederick, Maryland, USA Nov 20, 2006 While on vacation in China I had this beer with meals several times, in the large bottle format. In the United States, an average to below-average beer, but in China, which I have based my rating on, it was quite good and rich. The beer had a full gold color and a moderate white head, with fizzy carbonation. The aroma was hop-controlled and predominantly floral and herbal. An almost-medium-bodied beer with a good, bitter flavor. Definitely a beer that I would look forward to trying again if in China. mansquito (819), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Nov 16, 2006 Tried it in a Tibetan restaurant. Ironic I suppose. The beer is crisp, but at the same time watery. It is more than I expected from an Asian beer, but still not really all that great. Had a little bitter bite, but nothing really worth mentioning. Would never really search out this beer again, it isn’t really worth it, but as for a taste of China it is worth drinking it once or maybe twice. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Nov 16, 2006 Good clean crisp, not at all a bad beer, good but slightly lacking in the taste department, but good, some lacing head, funny enough, it went down very easily and smooth! the bitterness is what i liked, and not to carbonated so its easy drinking... Mirage52 (123), New Market, Maryland, USA Nov 16, 2006 Pours a bright golden color with a medium sized thick head. Medium carbination. Mouthfeel is almost creamy and the finish contains a slightly sweet, yet bitter taste. Not worth the hefty import price, but not a bad beer on its own.
