Appearance is Very dark, almost a dark burgundy and coffee-colour, but is seriously lacking in head. Taste is an okay stout, but very simplified, lots of burnt malts in there and some slight bitterness, with a dry finish. Really enjoyed the mouthfeel on this one, though. Overall, a nice stout from a macrobrew.

| 0.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 3/20 | Oct 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours black, true to its name, with a medium head made of big bubbles. The carbonation is bizarre: it sounds like rice crispies and the bubbles scitter across the surface. Basically it looks and sounds like a Coke. Aroma is vaguely sweet. Flavor is very thin: a little bit of sweet malt and that’s about it. If I wasn’t looking at it, I’d think this was a basic, boring lager. Actually worse than that, probably -- I’m picking up some strange off flavors. And the carbonation and obviously artificial color are kind of creeping me out. One of the worst beers I have ever had. I drank three sips and poured it out. Blech! Rune (2859), Tromsø, Norway
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Jul 25, 2009 500ml bottle, 5.8% abv, available from the Sky Bar at the cruise ship MS Taras Shevchenko. Chilled down too far in the fridge. Black as pitch, tiny beige head. Very vague smell of malts. Rather flavourless, just a note of sour roasted malts and a lighter aftertaste of watered liquorice. Lively carbonated. Has got some body, and the sweetness is on a modest level. Possible to drink, but nothing more (somewhere on the Dnieper River, 09.07.2009). MiP (9159), Sønderborg, Denmark
| 1.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 1/20 | Jun 27, 2009 Bottle, 5.8%. Very dark brown colour, seems cloudy. Big unstable light brown head. Tastes like any old crappy lager. Must be chuck full of artificial colour. Perhaps a little caramel in the finish, but I might be fooled by the colour.
