Portland Brew Fest ’05 - Tucks offered only this Belgian Strong Ale this year. Very interesting, sour but sweet aroma. Cut grass, lots of spice. Interesting palate with LOTS of flavor. This still seems a tad unrefined as it lacked some balance. Tons of flavor but not quite perfected.

Clouded yellowy amber appearance. Fairly clean malty aroma, mildly spiced. Malty, mildly cheesey flavor, slight bitterness and dry finish.

Taster @ PIB. Pours a orangeish color. Smells of coriander and spices, with hints of yeast. A sweet yeasty/wheaty flavor permeated with coriander. A little on the sweet side for me, but a decent brew.

Tap at PIB brewfest. Orangish colores with a little bit of opacity. No real head formation. Lighter bodied. Aroma runs sweet and spicey with orange and coriander. Quite sweet in flavor, a bit more than I would like or want in a saison. Decent as far as beers go, nothing exceptional.

Great beer. Loved the flavor of this beer. Had lots of Tucks and this by far was the best I have had. Max did a great job with this beer. It has such a great sweet flavor. Hope to have more.

On tap at the Tuck’s Brewery. This was a really good farmhouse style ale, lots of good spice, slightly yeasty, some fruity sourness, and very well balance. This brew had quite a bit of alcohol punch to it but managed to mask it very well. Lots of good coriander spices compliment the malts. This brew had just a touch of sourness in the finish. Max the brewer was saying that the new batch of this is going to be even better, keep an eye out. Update - the new batch is much lighter in color, more of a mellow golden orange, the sweetness was more mild bringing out a much crisper, more drinkable taste. The coriander was reduced allowing the yeast esters to show through better, and the sourness in the finish is gone.
