Commercial Description:
Similar to the Hop Red, but with the obvious color differences. A hop infused golden ale with just the right balance of bitter and sweetness.

Draft at the brewpub in October 2007. An unclear dark golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of fruit, in a very harsh way, as if it hasn’t finish fermenting - very unrefined. The flavor has notes of grass and grapefruit - from lots of hops, but again with a very yeasty unfinished flavor. Almost undrikable.

Tap... Opaque, golden color with no head. This beer was like the combination of a fruity wheat beer with an IPA. It was a sugary flavor explosion of grapefuit and apricot followed by an intensely bitter hop finish. It was very interesting. Some gulps I really enjoyed it, others... I thought, what were they thinking? It’s certainly unique.

Draft. Light amber beer with a low off-white head. Nice grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit and pine flavor. Nice flavor, but lower hop bitterness. Not bad. Lingering hop flavor.

Cloudy golden colour, thin white head. Dirty hop aroma, thick and heavy resins. Light spice/herbal hops, but the malts are clobbered by harsh bitterness. No subtlety. Horrible stuff.

Tap@Tugboat. This was actually pretty bitter and lemony, some tropical lychee flavours, lots of lemon rind. Some odd dirty diapers aswell, pretty unique i thought, bitter finish.

Nice, crisp, hoppy. Very good. Must admit that my sampling was stolen from girlfriends pint. But I did continue to steal enough away over two pints that I think I got a good picture.

If this is an APA, then it's hoppiest damn APA in existance. Should be listed as an IPA. Has an awesome sugary grapefruit aroma, very hopped. Pale and sour grapefruit dominate, and the palate is scratchy and dry. The taste is somewhat hindered by the bittering hops, but otherwise this is a nice, overpowering (in a good way) west coast IPA, very tasty.
