argo0 (6145), Washington DC, USA Jul 24, 2004 (RBSG04) (cask) Black body with brown head. Aroma is medium sweet, roasty coffee, some chocolate. Aroma is medium sweet, roasty, chocolate, some coffee. Some alcohol burn in finish, but the alcohol is fairly well hidden overall. Medium-full body. duff (5404), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Jun 17, 2004 Tap@Tugboat. Pretty sweet to start, malty. Finishes nice and roasty, with some bitter chocolate, felt a bit stale once again (like the Czeck bitter) and also a bit tinny and metallic. Not overly interesting, but tasty enough. BückDich (4525), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 8, 2004 Pitch black dark oil, nice tan head & lacing for so much alcohol. the aroma is hoppy with alcohol, grapes, roasty chocolate & a good balanced tone. The flavor is mildly salt with soy sauce flavors, not much alcohol here either. The sweetness is almost too much for the bitter roast but it’s marginally balanced. Finishes dry, astringant, roasty. 13%? Not a chance.
