Commercial Description:
This ones for the Hop Heads! Loads of citrus tasting American hops give it a crisp bitterness, while still having a balancing maltyness. Made with all american ingredients, with a nod to the classic British IPA's.

Pours a clear dark ruby/golden amber color with some lighter golden orange hues when held to a light source and a one finger soapy white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Sporadic spots of lacing. Earthy floral hop aroma with some nice citrus notes as well as some rye and caramel and biscuit malt. Subtle pine presence with some lemon and orange peel. Medium bodied and slightly creamy with sweet citrus floral hops. Not too bitter and not as much as I would prefer. Caramel malt with some biscuit and rye provide a decent balance without taking away too much from the sweet citrus hops. Does cancel out some of the bitterness but the sweet citrus peel flavors are still prominent. Overall, a nicely balanced drinkable IPA.

Location: On tap at the Brew Pub, 8/14/09

Aroma: Citrus and floral hops, caramel
Appearance: Clear golden-amber color
Flavor: A bit more earhty then the nose, but similar flavors, decent, but not big hoppy flavor, well balanced with the malt backing
Palate: Medium body
Overall Impression: This is a relatively tame IPA, but not in a bad way. It’s got some nice flavors, and enough hops to make it enjoyable, while staying mild enough for the types of customers that Tun Tavern is bound to attract. I mean they are in an Outlet Mall next to casinos, so I wasn’t expecting some sort of crazy hoppy IPA, it works for what it is.

Copper/orange pour with creamy white head and lace. Aroma of grapefruit and medium caramel malt. Grapefruit, bready, malty, cherriness, with nice bittering finish. Medium bodied with good carbonation.

I was down AC and visited the Tun Tavern in May and the rating has been buried in my notes....Amber medium bodied IPA, floral C-hops, caramel malt flavors. I was at the brewpub for lunch and the crowd was convention goers, I think it would be tought for the Tun Tavern to release an over the top IPA and get the patrons to consume. This IPA’s recipe has the patrons taste in mind.

On draft at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange bronze with a medium sized creamy beige head. Aroma of light grapefruit, orange citrus and hops. Taste of grapefruit, orange and bitter hops. Very nice.

Average. Nothing but average. It’s nice to get a fresh brewed beer in South Jersey but there’s nothing special here at all.

In short: An original IPA. Roasted, caramel, honey, wood, cedar, tea, good.
How: Tap at brewpub (batch was 6.1%)
The look: clear copper body topped by an off-white ring of foam
In long: Nose is floral/herbal and caramel. Taste has a lot of non-aromatic generic dark tea, the type you get at cheap Diners. Some woody/cedar notes. Roasted dry bread (reminiscent of Melba Toast) topped by caramel and honey. High roastiness level for the style. The beer is very tasty, the finish is mildly bitter with nice wood/cedar notes. This is an original twist in a style where it’s very hard to be original. This was my third beer at this Atlantic City brewpub that has a bad reputation, and so far 2 out of the 3 beers were very good. I should have quit while I was ahead but this is Altlantic City and I had to take another chance that didn’t pay off.
