This beer was acquired in a trade with Dberger624, The King of Philadelphia. ** Damn this beer is heavily hopped! This beer poured a cloudy amber color with a strangely large head. The head was made up of large foamy bubbles, rather than small compact bubbles. Hop Pocket has a slightly metallic aroma and taste, although I may just be mistaking the intensely dry bitterness for a metallic resemblance. Really, this beer is so dry, it is sucking all of the water out of my living cells. Overall, I think the strong hopp is just overpowering the malt, but this beer is so unique, it needs to be tasted.

Golden orange hue. Fruity floral juicy nose. Small whitish head. Pale malts first, light to medium bodied, juicy, pine resin, grassy hopped up ending. A decent session brew, very drinkable and pleasantly over-hopped.

Golden hue with a medium white head and good lacing, light to medium-bodied. Heavy hoppy aroma of pine and grapefruit. Hint of light malts detected. Citrusy bite and good balance on palate. Short bitter finish and slight mettalic feel. Dry and fizzy mouthfeel. I'm not a hop head and I still enjoyed this beer.

Rerate: 10/27/2003. 12 oz bottle, shaker glass, bottled 5/03, 55 degrees F. Very tall, creamy, frothy, white head lasts well. The body is a deep peach to orange color that is hazy from a dense collection of tiny to medium particles and has moderate carbonation. Cookie, toasted light bread malt (M); spruce, grapefruit hops (H); doughy yeast (L); apple, grape aromas. Lightly sweet, moderately bitter flavor becomes a heavily bitter finish. Medium body, watery/creamy texture, soft carbonation. The bottom line is: I thoroughly underestimated this one the first time around. Original Rating: 6/30/2003. I'm really sorry I tried this. The beer looks good when it's poured and it was downhill from there. The hop aroma is terribly overpowering, offensive even. Smelled like an original Coors that has been left open for a day on the front porch in the middle of summer. The completely unbalanced massively hopped taste sent me reeling. The beer did feel very creamy and was lively carbonated but that couldn't make up for the taste. I'd call it Tupper's Skunk Bucket Ale if I had a choice.

On tap at the Old Dominion 7th Annual Beer Festival. Basically the same as the Pils, only a little more fruitier than the Pils. Same golden yellow color, with a fast fading white, rocky head. This was my second beer of the day at the festival, and probably the second best as well. Aromas mostly of malts, and plenty-o-hops. The hops are slightly different in this beer, however. More citrusy, more resinous as well. Made a fine thirst quencher for the day too.

I sampled the fresh, keg variety in a take home “growler.” This ale pours clear bright amber with a huge, foamy white head; there was excellent lacing. The nose presents pungent citrus and pine hop notes and a hint of malt. An orange/grapefruit citrus hop flavor dominates the palate throughout, but the sweet malt base balances pending the satisfying dry, bitter finish. This ale offers a satisfying body and long-lasting finish, and remains a personal favorite.

Decent session ale. Good amount of hops, but not as much as I was expecting. Slightly lacking in the finish.

An excellent IPA. Enticing body with generous bubbles.A strong hop aroma arises as each bubble bursts. Take a swig and a blast of hops clobbers the tongue and continues to please throughout. It may be overpowering for some, but I love it
