Commercial Description:
Tuppers’ Hop Pocket Pils is made via a complex hopping schedule which includes dry hopping for weeks over whole-flower Saaz and Mt. Hood hops. Also used are Saaz, Mittelfruh, Spalt and Mt. Hood in the kettle. The beer is bottled and keg conditioned which provides very fine carbonation and a fine head.

Golden liquid with a lot of foam. It has a slight bitterness at the end. I’m not that crazy over beer with strong hops.

This brew has an intensely complex nose. Dry like a belgian wit, full of Saaz like a good pilz and delicately yeasty. Foam everywhere. Like theres a fraternity foam party in my glass. Pale color white frothy head. Flavors are intensely delciate and strikingly bitter. Floral, light and airy with a hint of black pepper or coriander even. Finishing with a nice dry bitterness. This is a good pilz. G-rat

Good looking pale body with plenty of bubbles. Aromatic citric hop scents paved the way for a similar flavor with a tart finish. Crisp drink. Nice.

i love old dominion beers. slightly cloudy with a light gold color and a nice white head. A nice hops aroma with a bit of citrus. Tastes almost like it smells but with a nice bitterness at the end.

This was a slight disappointment for me. Everything seemed in order except initial taste was lacking. I expected more. My feelings were subsequently confirmed as the finish was weak too. Perhaps my tastebuds were tainted from the Jever I had immediately prior to the Tuppers...

Although I think on average American craft beer is some of the best in the world, I have always lamented the lack of a good pils, especially after spending a few years in Germany. I lived in Bremen and missed the dry, almost astringent Pils such as Jever or Koenigs Pils. Now after tasting this beer and Prima Pils, my faith in a good domestic pils is beginning to be restored. Pours a pale yellow, gold with a good but not as dense a head as I would like. Smell hay, grass, malt and those wonderful Saaz hops. Taste is right on, with a nice mild bitterness at the end that I like that even many German Pils lack. While not as astringent as a Jever, it is a little fresher and richer tasting. All in all this is a real pils, every bit as good as a German pils. Now if I could only buy a sixer of this as cheap here as a sixer of Jever is in Germany....
