Commercial Description:
Tuppers’ Hop Pocket Pils is made via a complex hopping schedule which includes dry hopping for weeks over whole-flower Saaz and Mt. Hood hops. Also used are Saaz, Mittelfruh, Spalt and Mt. Hood in the kettle. The beer is bottled and keg conditioned which provides very fine carbonation and a fine head.

Decent looking pils. The only problem is that this stuff is way too bubbly. The color is nice. A nice peach/gold color. Translucent to opaque in clarity. A nice hoppy/fruity aroma. I am very pleased with the aroma. The beer is very aromatic. There is one complaint I have about this beer. It smells somewhat like champagne. As stated before, the hops are very nice, and can be picked up by the nose easily, but I don’t like the aroma of champagne. The beer is nice and smooth, and that hop flavor is definitely there. This pils is definitely nice, but that sharp hop flavor does not allow any malt sweetness to come through. The beer tastes somewhat dry to me. If this beer had not been as smooth as it was, I would have rated it lower. Other than the hops there is really not too much going on here. This beer is decent, but I am not sure that it deserves the 91st percentile. Just an opinion. The hops are very nice, and the beer is decent, but after one six-pack I am finished with this one.

Bottle. Poured a cloudy golden body with nice head. aroma is crisp hops. Flavor is smooth, well balanced with a nice crisp hoppiness to it. This is way too drinkable.

Pours yellow with a mostly receding off-white head. Aroma of sweet biscuit, straw, bready malt, and light herbal hops. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and lightly resinous with lively carbonation.

Bottle at Rustico in Alexandria, VA. Very aggressive and outstanding aroma for a pils. Aroma of biscuit, dough, honey, and herbal hops. Light bodied with a crisp texture. Initial flavor of pale european and biscuit malts that transitions to a spicy, herbal hop middle. Fairly hoppy for the style, in a good way. Finishes dry, with some leafiness as it goes down. Worth a try.

Bottle from Sam’s Blue Light consumed on 9/11/07 out of my saison dupont glass. Apperance is spot on perfect-- Light golden with nice carbonation and a well retained white head and lace. What more could you ask for from a pils? Aroma is bursting at the seams. Grassy, musty cobwebs, grapefruit, tropical fruits, lemon. I could sit an smell this for hours. Flavor is smooth, but again has so much more fruity and hoppy flavors that I am used to in a pilsner, but still manages to retain an exceptional balance with a slightly bready finish. This is very impressive and my new favorite session beer.

Bottle. Light copper color with a bit of cloudiness and a big puffy white head. A little sourness on the nose, but generally a light smell. More citrusy than most pils and hoppier as well. There’s quite a lot going on in here with some banana, lemon, and even honey and pepper on the finish. Complex, refreshing, and very smooth. To me it tastes like a happy mix of a hefe, pils, and pale ale. I can’t remember having a better pils/lager.

bottle - Pours light gold with a medium sized white head. The aroma is of mild hops and a touch of citrus. It has a good, crisp hops flavor that’s well balanced by some easy going bready malts. The carbonation is lively and the body is light without being watery. Nice pils.
