Commercial Description:
Tuppers’ Hop Pocket Pils is made via a complex hopping schedule which includes dry hopping for weeks over whole-flower Saaz and Mt. Hood hops. Also used are Saaz, Mittelfruh, Spalt and Mt. Hood in the kettle. The beer is bottled and keg conditioned which provides very fine carbonation and a fine head.

12 oz bottle. Hazy golden color with lasting bubbly white head that laced the glass. Pleasant aroma like you’d expect in a good pilsner; nice mix of cereal grain maltiness, a touch of caramel, and sprucy, grassy eurohops. Crisp and dry with a touch of hop bitterness at the end. Very good pilsner.

Clear golden pour with a lasting, frothy white head and some nice visible lacing. Hoppy aroma, but very light with some grassiness. Lively mouthfeel. Bready malts with some lingering hops into the finish. Dry, and crisp finish. Not a hint of corn, funk or anything crappy I normally associate with pilsners. Really good! Wish they were all like this.

One of the few reasons I welcome hot weather.......Poured into my crystal Pilsner flute with ease and a rambuncious head that had to be leveled off. Nice Czech hop on the nose, very clean and a little piney. I rarely see such a beutiful beer as this with a torrent of bottle carbonation rushing it’s way to the top. The firm and dry malt body reeks of germanic and domestic hop varieties and help with a slightly citrus-driven bitterness and rounds the beer out nicely. bottled, Jan. 06, be sure to check the exp. date.

12oz bottle. I’m a big pils fan, especially when plenty of hops are employed but this one just lacks any refinement. As with the hop pocket ale, this beer just seems kinda boring to me. A step up from a Bud but otherwise not much of a pils.

Tupper’s Pils resembles Dominion Victory Lager (also unfiltered) without Victory’s caramel malt and with much more hops. Tupper’s Pils pours with a frothy head, fine carbonation, and a pale amber color clouded by yeast. Its aroma and flavor favor the hops over the malt, with a very long hop finish and little residual sugar. More malt character would improve the balance.

Bottle. Poured clear amber with a large creamy white head that was lasting with good lacing. Good flowery hoppy aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Well balanced hoppy bitter sweet flavor with a moderate bitter finish.

Modest, slow pour yields enormous, expansive head that is frothy white atop a hazy off-yellow. Nose is dry and peppery with an ebullience that matches the carbonation throughout. Palate is tingly, light and appetizing. Dry hop mouth-coating goodness dominates the flavor that also smacks heavily of bready yeast. This was a several-year-old bottle and was decidedly ’off’ in balance. Nevertheless, this was a fun and original take on a heavy hop pils.
