Jan 7, 2008 Tap @ the brewpub. Poured a hazy dark amber color with an off-white head. The aroma was fairly grapey with some spice. The flavor was malty and fruity with a hint of tartness on the finish. Sweet orange juice. Some warmth with a medium-full body.

Dec 5, 2007 OC tour, tap at brewpub (reported at 9.5-10% ABV): Ruby and coppery hue with very good lace. The aroma has notes of fruit (plum, juniper berry, grapefruit), caramel, mineral, grassy and resiny hops, anise, and clove esters. The taste is fruity and acidic to balance a heavy sweet malt. At touch spicy and alcoholic as well. The feel is biting and lively with a warming character. This is really good and appears to still be young and brash. This is worth a stop if on tap. (Love the name!)

Feb 14, 2003 2001 vintage on draft. dark ruby pour with a decent tan head. Nice cherry notes sitting on a big malt backbone. A touch of sweetness at the middle. Medium bodied. Very accessible barley wine.
