Jul 20, 2009 Cask. Clear, warm deep amber with a small, rough off-white head. Aroma of wood and nuts with some alcohol showing. Medium body, low in carbonation, again nuts and wood, but also earthy and rather oxidized in a tired way. Alcoholic finish. Sloppy. 060709

Jul 23, 2009 From cask at the brewpub. Pours dark orange with a small and lasting off-white head. Dense caramelish and roasted malt aroma. Caramelish and roasted malt flavoured. Light hoppy note. Slight sticky and caramelish flavoured finish.

Dec 5, 2007 OC tour, tap at brewpub (reported at 9.5-10% ABV): Ruby and coppery hue with very good lace. The aroma has notes of fruit (plum, juniper berry, grapefruit), caramel, mineral, grassy and resiny hops, anise, and clove esters. The taste is fruity and acidic to balance a heavy sweet malt. At touch spicy and alcoholic as well. The feel is biting and lively with a warming character. This is really good and appears to still be young and brash. This is worth a stop if on tap. (Love the name!)

Jan 7, 2008 Tap @ the brewpub. Poured a hazy dark amber color with an off-white head. The aroma was fairly grapey with some spice. The flavor was malty and fruity with a hint of tartness on the finish. Sweet orange juice. Some warmth with a medium-full body.

Oct 16, 2002 On tap GABF 02: Sweet malt aroma, syrupy flat body Almost a orange ruby color with a huge head. Ends sweet. A bit light for a barleywine.

Jun 15, 2009 Cask at the brewpub. Very dark red/brown color with a creamy head. Sweet dark fruit aroma. Very smooth of course, it had a sweet spiciness to it, maybe a hint of anise, very good.
