solid black, dense thick tan head that settles down to a lasting fine head, slow cascade, the thick head has mostly legs plus a bit of drippy lace,
sweet dark chocolate and vanilla aroma with a touch of sweet whiskey and dark fruits plus a hint of licorice,
creamy body that thins out over time,
rich dark chocolate flavor, a nice whiskey candy sweetness, the oak and espresso blend together really well, the vanilla really brings out the dark chocolate and starts to give it a milk chocolate character, whiskey gets stronger as the 3rd goblet warms and hits first thing on the 4th, the espresso comes out in the finish to produce a nice roasted and light bitter finish,
much less whiskey than expected after 7 months in the barrel but adds ton of complexity rather than over whelming the beer,

initial aroma has a stronger whiskey character creating a chocolate malted milkball dipped in bourbon,
picking up some more bitterness in the flavor from the coffee and the roasted malts plus a bit of oaky character, the whiskey is bringing out more of the fruity character with a fleeting hint of cherry,

jimbowood (737), Athens, Georgia, USA Jan 13, 2008 Tap @ BP. A little overpowering w/ the coffee and served too cold. I would have given it more time to warm, be due to a time cruntch, had to drink it cold. Really only tasted coffee, dark choc., and oak notes w/ coffee predominating. Would like to rerate due to serving temp. CaptainCougar (4663), Rockville, Maryland, USA Sep 28, 2007 On cask: Pours an opaque black with a frothy light brown head that leaves a clumpy lacing behind as it subsides. Aroma of lightly sweet dark caramel and chocolate malts with some espresso roast and nice oaky whiskey complexity. Body starts fairly full for a regular stout with some sticky creamy milk chocolate and toffee sweetness balanced with good bourbon flavor and a hint of tartness. Incredibly drinkable and would make a nice breakfast beer ;) KieferUGA (356), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Sep 28, 2007 Cask conditioned. Wonderfully dark and thick. Motor oil in color. Medium brown head that clings to the glass until the end. Slight hint of whiskey in the aroma, but the coffee stands out. Each sip is a treat. Amazing how smooth it goes down. Mouthfeel is of coffee, but it is very subtle. Aftertaste is slightly bitter, with dark chocolate undertones. Amazing beer!
