| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 9, 2008 Updated: Nov 13, 2009Cask at the Prince of Wales, Twickenham. Tawny/copper coloured with a small but long-lasting head and a nutty, woody aroma. Quite full-bodied, with a grainy character which developed into a fruity (hints of mulberries) and malty bitterness. The aftertaste was sweet and initially just a bit cloying, but then a cleaner bitter chocolate taste came through, running into a long-lasting bitter finish.
Re-rated at the Magpie & Crown, Brentford. This year’s is a dark orange-brown with a coarse white head. Piney hops on the nose, then the palate brings bitter oranges, nuts & dry malt, it turns sweet on the tongue before segueing into a clean astringent finish. Pyobon (271), Sydney, Australia

Light body with little carbonation. Flavour has flowery hops and a nice long, somewhat bitter finish. Good quaffable ale. DownsouthGav (602), Greater London, England

Yet another shockingly bad JDW serving. Bland aroma of apple and toilets. Medicinal and dusty flavour with a slight sourness and a vaguely bitter finish. Not good at all. Cock off ’Spoons.
