Handpulled cask at JDW Hatch End, Harrow. Blond with a healthy white head. A well balanced beer without any outstanding flavours. Fresh and enjoyable.

Cask at the Prince of Wales, Twickenham. Tawny/copper coloured with a small but long-lasting head and a nutty, woody aroma. Quite full-bodied, with a grainy character which developed into a fruity (hints of mulberries) and malty bitterness. The aftertaste was sweet and initially just a bit cloying, but then a cleaner bitter chocolate taste came through, running into a long-lasting bitter finish. Re-rated at the Magpie & Crown, Brentford. This year’s is a dark orange-brown with a coarse white head. Piney hops on the nose, then the palate brings bitter oranges, nuts & dry malt, it turns sweet on the tongue before segueing into a clean astringent finish.

Draught. Amber brown with some head. Not much aroma: malty. Light body with little carbonation. Flavour has flowery hops and a nice long, somewhat bitter finish. Good quaffable ale.

A Mes rate: Cask at Baker St. ’Sporks.
Amber brown with no head what so ever. Yet another shockingly bad JDW serving. Bland aroma of apple and toilets. Medicinal and dusty flavour with a slight sourness and a vaguely bitter finish. Not good at all. Cock off ’Spoons.

Cask @ Twickenham BF 07. Aroma is slightly citrus with nice malts in there too. Taste is malty / caramel with dry / hoppy finish. Very drinkable.
