This World Beer Cup Silver Medal winner has wonderful roasted coffee and malt aromas. The earthy, dark chocolate flavors of the espresso blend to the flawless balance of the beer. It’s rich and strong like a good espresso, creamy and smooth like a good stout.

This beer had a beautiful pour into a tulip glass. Very dark and rich, with a dark roasted tan head that was very thick and continually rebuilt itself every time I swirled the glass. Aromas of roasted malt and fresh brewed coffee. Taste was not overpowering; instead, it was a nicely balanced stout with a definite coffee flavor. Not overly bitter or hoppy. Very easy to drink. Not too thick, but still with enough body to satisfy. Not sure of the ABV, but not too strong, making it a nice beer to sip and enjoy, leaving the palate ready for a refill. Recommended.

Bottle thanks to BlackForestCo.
Pours a inky black in color with about a half inch of head. Smell is very faint coffee and even more faint creme/espresso. Taste is slight creamy espresso. A good amount of bittering in the flavor as well. Good, smooth mouthfeel. Still bittering in the aftertaste. Decent beer.

22oz bottle. Rich and fresh coffee nose, no doubt about it... somewhat green and vegetal at times but many times fresh coffee has that aroma as well. Minty, spicy, dark roasted coffee, with some heavy char and smoked malt in play. Flavor is fresh, green coffee beans, rich, heavily roasted wood and barley, with a light chocolate sweetness. Body is medium thick, dissolving on the back of the tongue. Decent enough effort.

Draft at the brewpub. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes fo roasted malt and expresso coffee. The flavor is sweet with notes of expresso beans, and medium notes of medium roasted coffee beans, as well as hints of wood, leading to a dry bitter coffee finish.

Pour could have passed as coffee, right down to the creamy head. Nose is almost all coffee with a hint of dark chocolate and a whisper of cherries. Taste reiterates the nose but is tempered with malt and cocoa.Mouthfeel is substantial yet crisp at the same time. Finish is lovely, with the hops and the coffee vying for the bitterness.
