(Bottle) Pours an opaque black body with a moderate rich brown head. Aroma of coffee, vanilla, toasted grain, soy sauce, and pine. Flavor of roasted malt, coffee, some lactic, and mild hops with a thin, watery mouthfeel.

Bottle. Body-flat oily looking body with a thin ring of bubbles. Nose-cold pressed coffee, light ashtray, fishy/shrimp, lake water, Worchester sauce, soy sauce. Taste-flat, light dirt, ashtray, lactic acid, oily, light perfume, cheap coffee, very very light char/smoke, cigarette smoke, nasty aftertaste. Not a very good beer.

Bottled, up in Steamboat Springs. This one is a good wintertime brew, considering the great aroma of rich espresso and chocolate that you can indulge over. Very weak appearance, watery pour with transparent copper edges. No head at all, just some light fizz. Deep maroon center, not all that black. Great aroma however, plenty of dark chocolates and espresso. Some toffee and sweet cinnamon too. Flavors are less impressive as they fade much too quickly. Light espresso with more cocoa, but tastes a bit watery. Dry finish. Not bad right here.

Bottle: Black in color, almost pitch black cept for the pour which shows it was a deeper brown.   Large frothy light brown head, spotty lacing.   Chalky chocolaty nose, minor ashtray and roasted malts.   Or should I say, a bit strong ashtray, and some roasted malts.   Unfortunately that little bit of ashtray comes out on the tongue.   Chalky, somewhat dry, not as flavorful on the tongue.   Might call this one more of a Porter.   Some hop aspect, but tiz minor.   Soft lingering chocolate malts and ashtry.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate, but twas expecting it to be a bit fuller.   Tiz okay, espresso is minor, stout is minor, chocolate is minor, and the ashtray is minor but still too much.   Could stand to be thickened up a bit in my opinion.   Otherwise its not bad.

I thought this beer was a nice sweet stout. The "sweet" flavor was present but pretty understated. However there was plenty of espresso flavor and a lot of very nice dry-roastiness (burned pizza crust) under a lactose-sugar top-note. Quite a nice flavor combination. Mouthfeel was quite dry. Aroma was of sweetened coffee. Appearance, as you might expect, was opaque with a lot of very nice (although not durable) tan fluffly head. Definitely recommended, and probably the best beer I’ve had from this brewer.

Bottle. Poured black with brown edges mostly opaque. Aroma is slightly sweet with notes of roasted malt and of course espresso. Small tan head, light lacing. Flavor is moserately sweet. Earthy roasted malt notes, strong espresso flavor. Finish is slightly bitter. Noticeable carbonation, medium body. As a beer it is average as a stout... Not a fan.

Bottle labeled as Big Shot Expresso Stout. Pours solid black with a small, frothy, ’expresso’ colored head leaving minimal lacing. Nose is actually quite nice, simple but nice; coffee notes but not overly roasted, milk chocolate, and some dark chocolate. Similar flavors with a moderate coffee bean note with a light acidity, milk chocolate, and a dry cocoa note towards the finish. Palate is more than medium, creamy, moderately carbonated but slightly watery. Finishes with some coffee bitterness, light acidity, and some dry cocoa notes. Straight forward and simple with nice coffee notes and restrained roast. Very enjoyable and drinkable, just nothing too memorable.
