Rerate sampled on 2/26/07: Similar appearance, but the aroma has a touch of cherry fruitiness. Otherwise lots of molten dark chocolate and good coffee balance. Thanks to crosling for the bottle.

Bottle sampled on 11/8/06: Pours a nearly opaque dark mahogany with a thin covering of light tan head. Aroma of rich espresso beans and dark chocolate with some roasty notes and sweet malt. Body starts lightly caramely sweet with a lot of good espresso character and dark chocolate. A nice brew.

In the bomber bottle from Wilburs. Pours coal black with a medium dark beige head of fairly good retention. Aroma is very unpleasant and odd. In fact, I’d have to say it smells like a men’s urinal that is in need of a good flush. The flavor is not bad at all. Good thick body. I liked this because in addition to solid chocolate and roasted malt flavors, this was not overdone in the coffee department. That made it very balanced for a non-coffee drinker such as myself.

Black uneventful pour, diminishing tan head, pretty creamy while it sticks around. Loads of milk chocolate are not enough to stand up to the trembling coffee, a powerhouse of an aroma. Not very complex but fun to sniff away at, especially with an omelette at eight in the morning. Small hints of vanilla and roasty malts, along with some creamy sugars, peak through the intense coffee nose. Flavor isn’t what the aroma eludes to, other than the continual coffee bashing my palate is taking. Roasty coffee keeps the flavor from ever nearing even mild sweetness. Palate is spiked with roasty punches, and lively as it is, the beer as a whole seems rather unimpressive. Finishes medium dry. Astringency is over the top throughout.

Bottle... O-Town Throwdown... Poured dark, sits black in the glass with a small, creamy, khaki head. Vanilla, cocoa, espresso nose with a smidgen of oxidation. Mildly sweet flavor with lots of coffee and chocolate. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Chocolaty finish. Thanks to Crosling for his generosity!

[22 oz. bottle, courtesy of TAR] Awesome aroma of sweet milk chocolate and dark roasted espresso. Pitch black in color, with a short head. Very dark malt flavors, with an excellent roasted coffee foundation. Finishes quite dry, with elements of cocoa and a touch of bitter hops. All around, extremely drinkable stuff.

Black with good head. Yummy...this beer is right up my alley. Great coffee aroma and taste with some smooth chocolate sweetness. Not over the top and definitely low alcohol. Doesn’t try to be a huge beer; it succeeds in being a tasty coffee flavored stout you could drink the hell out of. News flash: If you don’t like coffee you won’t like this.

Pours a black body with a thin dark beige head. Nice espresso/latte aroma with nutty chocolate and light caramel sweetness. Flavor si a bit weaker, soem coffee, chocolate, caramel, and a thin sligtly astringent aftertaste. Easy drinking and pretty good stout.

Poured a hazy dark brown color with a thin beige head. Big coffee grind aroma with chocolate mixed in. Sweet chocolate malty flavor that sat on top of the coffee. Bitter semi-dry finish.
