4 oz sample at the brewery, 4/15/06: Verrrrrry nice. Pleasant little twist on coffee/mocha flavors. Good alternative to coffee for breakfast. One of the two best here at TPBC. I’d buy again! <<Actually I did, on 2/22/2009 ... in the bottle. Pure coffee aroma and 100% coffee character. Ultimate coffee beer I think I’ve ever tasted. Excellent and upgraded rating>>

Nice Brown Head, Dark Chocolate Coffee Smell, Smokey / Malty Dark Chocolate Coffee taste. Nice chocolate coffee aftertaste. Light and well balanced. Out of the 4 or 5 coffee beers that I have consumed this is my personal favorite. Currently it is only available on draft at the Boulder brewery. It may be available in bombers soon as it has been very popular. With so many great beers in Colorado this place in my opinion doesn’t get the publicity it deserves.

tap at the brewery. dark almost pitch black with a brown head. amazing coffee nose, like being in a nice coffee house with a bowl of chocolate ice cream. smooth wet coffee flavor with light caramel & a chocolate finish. bitter coffee flavor works so well in this.

A cold pour produces a thick blackish sludge w/ a two finger head. Good head retention and the creamy lacing sticks to the end. Strong aromas of full on espresso. Full nectar w/ good carbonation crates a soft fiberous texture. Dry w/ big roasted espresso flavors that climb through the sludge like a creature emerging from a watery tomb. Secondary flavors of dark cocoa, leather, and a pinch of chipotle pepper to finish w/ superb bittering. A beautiful specimen.

This beer had a beautiful pour into a tulip glass. Very dark and rich, with a dark roasted tan head that was very thick and continually rebuilt itself every time I swirled the glass. Aromas of roasted malt and fresh brewed coffee. Taste was not overpowering; instead, it was a nicely balanced stout with a definite coffee flavor. Not overly bitter or hoppy. Very easy to drink. Not too thick, but still with enough body to satisfy. Not sure of the ABV, but not too strong, making it a nice beer to sip and enjoy, leaving the palate ready for a refill. Recommended.

Smells like iced coffee! Straight black color. Very much like alcohol meets iced coffee; very tastey!

Aroma - bold malt, hint of sweetness; Appearance - black, opaque, very thick creamy head, laces well; Taste - sweet malt front, coffee back, mild bitter finish; Palate - subtle crispness, great body; Overall - a tad rough around the edges yet still a wonderful brew.
