Clear golden with lots of bubbles. Immediate aroma of spicy chili; burns the eyes a bit. Very nice spice....one of the better chili beers I’ve had. Light enough to counter the chili.

on tap-pours a white head and hazy yellow color. Aroma is chile. Taste is chile with heat, wheat. A bit more heat than the other two I’ve had in Colorado (Shamrock and Steamworks), interesting. OK carbonation.

Looks like Bud Light, with that mysterious juice that’s left in the jalapeno jar added. It even refracted light in that weird viscous way that left-over pickle juice does. The smell is earthy. I, having read the label, knew that it was peppers right away...so I asked my wife (pregnancy having given her the nose of a bloodhound) to give it a wiff. She identified carrots, potatoes, and other fruits of the earth. Nothing that belongs in a beer bottle, I assure you. The flavor was, in a word, awful. I can’t say I’ve had other chile beers, and this example will make me think twice before I do. After this beer, the fact that I have a bottle of Rogue Chipotle in the fridge is terrifying.

22oz bomber-A pale gold with no head. Aroma of peppers and more peppers. Taste of peppers from front to middle. Was expecting more from aroma.

Bottle. Pours a clear yellow with minimal heading. Lightly carbonated. Nose is redolent of peppers. Disappointing spice character although the description indicated habaneros et al. I’m not sure where they went. In terms of chiles, this had almost no "chile" flavor and could have been a green pepper ale for all intents and purposes. It was not offensive, just not what I had anticipated from a "Billys Chiles".

This is one of the better vegetable beers I have tried. The malt background makes up for everything else that is lacking and really stands up to the spice and heat of the chili peppers. Has a nice lingering bit of heat, without being overpowering or scorching to your palate.

4 oz sampler at the brewery, 4/15/06: Strong and nice chili aroma. First flavorful beer I tried here ... if you like the flavor of nice green chilis in your beer, that is!

Bomber pored a hazy greenish yellow with a small quickly dissapating white head. Aromas of chilies nothing else, what did you expect? Palate was light bodied and warming. Flavors of sweet chili pepper followed by a mellow heat with a lingering warming finish. One of the best chilie beers I’ve had.
