Commercial Description:
A clean crisp German Style Pale Ale. Common to the Cologne area of Germany, our Blonde Ale is brewed in the tradition of Kolsch beers found in that region. Great on a hot summers day or any day for that matter.

Draft. A hazy golden beer with a lazing white head. The aroma has notes of straw and malt as well as hints of citrus. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw and malt, leading to a dry bitter finish. The body is thin.

on tap-pours a white head and hazy yellow color. Aroma is sweet grain. Taste is sweet grain with a nice kolsch twang and slight hops bite. OK carbonation.

Clear pale yellow colored body with a medium-tall white head. Awful buttered popcorn nose... heavy with diacetyl, overpowering what would be some lemon citrus notes... horrible smell. Flavor is more buttered popcorn and crackers... tastes like Chicken-in-a-Biscuit. Body is lacking, medium fullness, weakens on the back... overall it’s just a downright awful beer, I hope it’s got to be better on draft.

Head is initially small, frothy, white, fully diminishing. Body is hazy light yellow. Aroma is lightly hoppy (flowers), lightly malty (toasted grain), with a hint of DMS. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is trace sweetness, trace acidity, lightly bitter. Light body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Very watery, bland, and quite thin...yes, Kolsch are light and easy going, but this is stretching it a bit. Not bad, just too weak.

4 oz sample at the brewery, 4/15/06: Listed as a "German style pale ale"?? What is that? A Kolsch? This is creamy, sticky headed. Not so German, me thinks. Vaguely citrusy but pretty empty.

Tap. Pours pale gold with a tiny white head. Hoppy sour malt aroma. Yeast and sour malt flavor. Light bodied.

Creamy, but thin head above a slightly hazy, medium yellow. Smells of sweet malts and yeast. Decent mouthfeel: smooth, creamy, thickish and weighty, but not cloying. Malt flavors are light, but have notes of almond and honey. Hops are flowery, light and dryish. Only a slight bitterness with a husky malt flavor in the finish and aftertaste. Nicely balanced and non-offensive.

Decent, with a bit of light citrus fruit in the nose, biscuity malts, some grassiness, but very light and easy to drink, just not much there overall.
