In the bomber bottle from Wilburs. Pours black with a rich dark brown head. Has a nice coffee roasted aroma. Very smooth and milky palate. Lots of chocolate flavors. This was a surprisingly delicious stout due to the smoothness.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with Kevin (thanks!). Poured a dark brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Some floaters. Aromas of roast, chocolate, yeast, and some coffee. Tastes of roast, some dark fruits, chocolate, and a light coffee finish.

Black but penetrable by light. Sticky beige froth adorns the glass. Pronounced roast dominates the nose as molasses, plums, butter toffee and cocoa exude subtly. Slightly yeasty and unclean, however. Bottle-conditioning yields dense prickles of carbonation. Heaps of sharp and gritty but well composed roast flavors are immediately chased with a supple baker’s chocolate bite. Quite juicy despite the snappy char, with flavorsome dried-plum esters sandwiched between the fat malts. Fruitiness triggers a vibrant coffee onset as burnt cookies and dry chocolate aid the chewiness. Fluffy nougat and baker’s chocolate provide even more structure, but the slight aridness offsets any intensifying sweetness to perfection. Equally quaffable as it is satisfying due to the pleasant degree of attenuation coupled with the complex yet understated malt character. Finishes moistly full with a feathery touch of roasted barley kissed with lingering java and dry chocolate. Aroma is a bit yeasty and fruity, and the acidity is slightly distracting, but the array of subtle malt flavors is quite nice.

Pours silky and oily, with a very small but creamy tan head. Roasted coffee aroma, bittersweet chocolate and the slightest bit of hop resins. Smooth and rich on the palate, nicely balanced acidity, hints of chocolate covered espresso beans, with some molasses spread over fresh biscuits in the summertime. Enjoyable.

Bomber poured a translucent brownish black with a small diminishing brown head. Aromas of roasted malt, dark chocolate, a bit of espresso and a hint of vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, espresso, bitter chocolate and some smokiness with a smooth sweet finish.

Bomber. Beer is a nearly-opaque motor-oil brown with a small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing head. The aroma is nice. Malty with moderate-to-heavy notes of roasted grain and coffee, moderate notes of dark chocolate and sharp molasses; Hoppy with a moderate herbal note, moderate of resin/pine; Yeasty with a light note of dough, trace of basement. The flavor is moderately sweet, light-to-moderately acidic, lightly bitter with a long, roasty retro’ed, moderate-to-heavily acidic, lightly bittersweet finish. The body is full, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is a bit softer than average.
