| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 4, 2009 Aroma: A crisp aroma with a citrusy character, some malts in the back ground.
Appearance: It pours clear with a deep copper color with a tall white head.
Flavor: It’s classic IPA with a prominent American hop taste up front and a strong malt back bone to finish up.
Mouth feel: It has a medium body.
Overall Impression: In these days of over the top hopping, Hoppy Boy seems mild. It’s one of the milder IPA’s I’ve had, but that should not scare anyone away. As with all the Twisted Pine beers I have tried, this one hits the style guidelines. Finishing up a cooler full of Hoppy Boy would not be difficult for me to do. This is an easy to drink beer.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 8, 2009 Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Real fresh grapefruit, floral aroma that lit up the nose. Copper body with decent head. If the flavor would have been like the aroma, this beer could have been a "5". But the flavor was a decent IPA - citrusy. Cool and crisp on the palate. Good brew. Thanks, Eric, for the opportunity to try this one! jcwattsrugger (5573), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 21, 2006 22oz bottle sampled in mid-August ’06: Pours a clear dark golden bronze with a nicely-lacing frothy white head. Aroma has a big, fresh piny spruce and grapefruity hoppy presence with a nice, mild crystal malty balance. Body starts with a semi-sweet toasty caramel maltiness with good fresh piny citrus hoppy balance. Very smooth and drinkable, a nice IPA. dwyerpg (2545), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 23, 2008 This smells great. Floral and bitter hops. The beer doesn’t live up to the great aroma. A nice flavor, but just too light. Disappointed. jefcon (1008), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 29, 2007 Draft. Clearing dark amber in color. Smooth, creamy-looking head. Lots of hopcit aromas. Grapefruit, orange, bitter bite. Sweetening malts on the finish. Ungstrup (15382), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 16, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. A hazy amber beer with a lazing white head. The aroma is lovely grassy hoppy which also lends it notes of pine needles and citrus. The flavor is sweet and very hoppy which primarily gives it notes of grass and pine needles, leading to a dry and very bitter finish. BeerBelcher (945), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Oct 21, 2007 I thought this a better-than-average IPA/APA. The beer had a lot of very pleasant sweet citrus hop notes, but these weren’t balanced with a lot of very bitter hop character. Nonetheless, I found this a very pleasant and easy-to-drink beer which paired easily with food.
Appearance was a rather rich amber color that was clear but not sparkling. Aroma was of pineapple and passion-fruit. Flavor was very citrus-y and sweet, with a malt character that was a bit under-powered. Mouthfeel was very light, and this beer was exceedingly easy to drink.
Far from the biggest IPA I’ve had recently, but still a very enjoyable beer. Something you could drink as an apertif, with a meal, or while cutting the grass and still scratch your beer itch. Definitely recommended.
