Aroma of chocolate, caramel, toffee, raisins, and some alcohol. Creamy, rich flavor like milk chocolate and a Sugar Daddy. Medium-high sweetness with light, partly balancing roast and mild bitterness. Has some aged character and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Thanks TannerTavernboys.

Pours opaque jet black with a medium tan foamy head; good lacing. Dark chocolate molasses and caramel toasted malt with a raisin hop nose. Hoppy dark chocolate and roasted coffee bean flavor with a fruity finish. Silky smooth with a full bodied palate. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 3, 2005 Chocolate, soy sauce, orange-blossoms and salt in the aroma.Opaque brown body with thin cover and ring of tan head. Cocoa like sweetness balances with the salty, tangy soy flavour evoking a mild, nutty character. Medium body with fair carbonation. Bottle enjoyed with Lubiere, MartinT, muzzlehatch, Olivier_MTL, Rastacouere and Yowie. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 30, 2005 Bomber shared with MartinT, tiggmtl, Olivier_MTL, Rastacouere and Yowie iin Montreal. Just a bit of dark, fading head tops the satiny black, oily body...light roastiness, a bit of chocolate are pleasant touches in an otherwise weak nose...salty, dark cocoa body, wisps of cherry...bit thin and perhaps oxidized...more fruits appear later, notably blueberry, but not enough to save this from relative mediocrity. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 27, 2005 The Lure: Minty roastiness and mild sweet soy sauce allusions surface the tired perfume. Not much arousal going on here, yet nothing offensive looms.
The Festivities: A portly body offers rotund saltiness amidst the roastiness and vinosity. Sweet malt flavors are definitely present, yet not very expressive. Ends quietly, leaving me unattended and frustrated.
Transcendence: You mean the Little Grand Canyon is not as nice as the Grand Canyon itself? Really? Rastacouere (5555), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 25, 2005 Thanks Ernest. Dark chocolate colored, wearing a light brown head that very quickly leaves and becomes a timid ring. Aroma is light, mellow, could definitely be more expressive. The burnt nuts roastiness dominates the range over a slight fruity tang. Fairly tasty chocolate and roasted woodiness come out on the palate though. Quite dry as it evolves and warms, a bit bready, powdery texture. Smooth bodied, well rounded, mellow carbonation. Either this bottle was not at its best or I don’t get the drift. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 18, 2005 22 oz bottle-i have to give thanks to Ernest for scooping this beer out at a liquor store in Boulder, CO a few weeks ago. pours 98% black with a small fizzy beige head that was about an inch thick. chocolate, rum rasin, roast, cofee, expresso aromas. flavors really show the rum rasin quality with notes of chocolate and dark fruits (plums). body is ok, but not as big as i thought it would be, especially for 8%. Its pretty good-better than the SKA but not as good as i was expecting. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 1/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 15, 2005 22 oz bottle. Poured black as night with no real head at all. Chocolate malts are most prevelant due to the low carbonation level. Just lots of cocoa and some coffee. Nothing to write home about.
