Big coffee roast aroma. Beige head. Black strong in alcohol and hoppy. Smooth on the palate with a little bitterness and dryness in a roast finish. hopdog (5590), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Alcohol content hidden. Light lacing left on the glass. Rastacouere (5553), Montréal, Quebec, Canada

Dark chocolate colored, wearing a light brown head that very quickly leaves and becomes a timid ring. Aroma is light, mellow, could definitely be more expressive. The burnt nuts roastiness dominates the range over a slight fruity tang. Fairly tasty chocolate and roasted woodiness come out on the palate though. Quite dry as it evolves and warms, a bit bready, powdery texture. Smooth bodied, well rounded, mellow carbonation. Either this bottle was not at its best or I don’t get the drift. Taste of sweet brown sugar and roasted malt in the body. Smooth, robust palate masks the alcohol quite well. Great complexity and balance make this a very enjoyable and flavorful brew. hopscotch (5483), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Pitch black ale with a small, creamy, beige head. Chocolaty aroma with hints of coffee and butterscotch (low level of diacetyl which seems to work really well with this beer). The flavor is chocolaty-sweet with rich caramel and only moderate bitterness. Full-bodied and velvety with subdued carbonation. Finishes chocolaty and sweet, but not cloyingly so. Thanks to Crosling for supplying the bottle of this world class brew! bu11zeye (5472), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 27, 2005 The Lure: Minty roastiness and mild sweet soy sauce allusions surface the tired perfume. Not much arousal going on here, yet nothing offensive looms.
The Festivities: A portly body offers rotund saltiness amidst the roastiness and vinosity. Sweet malt flavors are definitely present, yet not very expressive. Ends quietly, leaving me unattended and frustrated.
Transcendence: You mean the Little Grand Canyon is not as nice as the Grand Canyon itself? Really? ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA

Quite smooth and milky, flavors of amaretto and rum. Sweet and sickly at times. Very dry palate, corrosive. Sweet alcohol and amaretto, with a slightly hoppy and stouty character.
