Draft. A hazy dark red beer with a thick lazing yellowish head. The aroma is sweet malty with a light touch of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also lighter notes of citrus, leading to a dry malty and toffee finish.

on tap-pours a light tan head and hazy copper color. Aroma is medium malt-caramel. Taste is sweet medium malt-caramel, secondary hops with some bite. Good carbonation.

Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), lightly hoppy (apricot), lightly yeasty (dough), with notes of tea and minerals. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A pleasant dark amber ale that reminds me of Carlow O’Hara’s Irish Red.

4 oz sampler at the brewery, 4/15/06: Dark and well-haeded. Inviting hoppy aroma. But the flavor is more caramel and smooth. Intriguing. Good session offering and the best I found here. Had a follow-on pint after the samplers.

Tap. Pours mahagoney with a creamy tan head and creamy lacing. Big caramel malt aroma, some piney hops. Sweet caramel malt flavor with a hoppy finish. Dry and light bodied, creamy feel initially.

Nice and chewy mouthfeel, with a beautifully rich red color illuminating from the glass. "Medium-rare" caramel flavors with a moderate, burnt/roast finish that seems to meld pretty well with the hop bitterness. Doesn’t jump out at you, but a fairly enjoyable beer with a good amount of flavor.

Nice aroma, like those little caramel candies, and a light bit of melted toffee. Flavor is sweet and malty, nicely balanced, smooth and super easy to drink. A perfect session beer.

Tap at brewery during GABF 2009.
Pours a deep mahogany with a nutty caramel malt nose. Flavor is trashy, oxidized malt candy. Watery mouthfeel. Blech.
