Dec 1, 2007 Had this beer on 9/6/1999. Color is a deep hazy red with good carbonation and head. Aroma is a deep roasted malt scent. Taste is bold, robust, and malty. Starting off with a rich body the flavors of roasted malt come on right away. It goes down crisp as the finish begins with a strong malt flavor and ending with a nice but firm hop bitterness and a faint hop flavor.

Apr 12, 2008 Rich malty eggnog nose. Deep brown copper color with a medium head. Smooth complex malt sweetness, with a subtle hop bitterness that complements the malts. Medium bodied with a smooth easy finish. Really nice session beer.

Apr 26, 2006 4 oz sampler at the brewery, 4/15/06: Dark and well-haeded. Inviting hoppy aroma. But the flavor is more caramel and smooth. Intriguing. Good session offering and the best I found here. Had a follow-on pint after the samplers.

Jul 15, 2006 Nice aroma, like those little caramel candies, and a light bit of melted toffee. Flavor is sweet and malty, nicely balanced, smooth and super easy to drink. A perfect session beer.

Mar 8, 2009 (Bottle). Deep amber in color. Medium size head with light yellow color. Head dimishes over time with moderate head lacing. Malty aroma. Malt and caramel flavor. Light carbonation.

Jun 15, 2007 Good example of a Scottish Ale. I would say thi is closer to a scottish than an irish anyway. Nice malt flavors and very easy to drink. Not too hoppy and no serious off flavors.

Dec 16, 2003 Nice dark amber color with noticable particles from the bottle-conditioning. Medium character and only moderate hops make this an easy drinking beer.

Nov 4, 2006 on tap-pours a light tan head and hazy copper color. Aroma is medium malt-caramel. Taste is sweet medium malt-caramel, secondary hops with some bite. Good carbonation.
