Avalon Spiced Ale is one of a series of special limited-run beers in styles that are more extreme or unusual. Avalon is an old word meaning "Apple Island," a place where apples are not always what they seem. No matter the legend, Apples are magic this special ale!

Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Huge apple aroma right after opening the bottle. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and other spices. Really complex aroma once you get passed the apple. Apple and the spices come out on the flavor, but there’s something funky in the flavor that I’m not to fond of. This brew had some potential but lost it in the flavor.

Bright apple nose with some spinach. A bit of horse blanket funk thrown in. Murky cider color. Some white chunky head. Tastes like a cider, but with some better malt and vegetable groundings. Nice and tangy with some vinegar notes. A note of alcohol? Enjoyable and tasty. Great for the rainy spring evening in Chicago.

Draft at Blind Tiger. Poured a clear medium orange color with an off white head. Pretty simple stuff. Smelled and tasted like carbonated spiced apple cider. Chicory, cinnamon, apple and nutmeg flavors. Slightly sweet. So so.

Copper/reddish color with a very thin head. Strong, very strong apple aroma. Like freshly pressed cider. Light malt. Dry malt and grain taste. The apples turns from fresh and sweet in the aroma to a dried and earthy taste. Light astringency. The apple becomes more pronounced as it warms closer to room temp.

Thirtieth rate of this beer. Drank while playing Madden on the internet. Bottle sent as an extra from BeerBunker. Thanks for the generosity dude! To quote Tom, "this is an odd little beer." Smells like apple cider, cinnamon, and a touch of dusty yeast. Pours golden orange with a thin fizzy head. Flavors of apple juice, cinnamon, light spicy yeast, dust and dirt. Interesting gritty mouth feel, rather bubbly carbonation, but a pretty thin body.

Poured a clear dark gold with minimal head. It smells like cinnamon and apple juice. Crisp apple flavor with a spice finish. Light to medium body.
