Nice little funky thing going on with just a slight amount of acidity. The only thing that detracts is some soggy paperr. Once it warms, the apples really rot though. Not a beer you want to drink more then a few ounces of. Too bad for me they serve this in a pint. Fuck me this time for ordering a beer I’ve never heard of. Seven fuckin’ fity to boot. Rape! What the heck is this junk, its like someone left apple juice out over night and pitched some priming sugar in. Horrible, i couldnt get anyone to help me finish it. A bit vinous with some light spices and then just concentrated juice. Not good. ilherps (234), Carbondale, Illinois, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jan 31, 2009 This beer tasted yeasty to me and therefore led me to the champagne flavor that I remember most. Tastes like a sur-lie sparkling white wine. Apples are definitely there, with what seems like nutmeg or cinnamon too. This is a christmas-y beer. It wasnt bad, just not my type of beer. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 27, 2009 22 oz. bomber. Nice apple cider smell to start with. Pours like a mix between amber and cider color, the glass brings out a bit more malt scent. Drinks mostly like a beer that had some mis-matched spices added just before bottling. And I’m kind of missing the apples I thought would be here; perhaps they fermented out a bit more than expected. All I can come up with is a dried apple potpourri, though I think this is a little more complex than that. But not enough that I can really say I want another. Still, somehow I am compelled to drink it. JPDIPSO (4935), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 26, 2009 Orange/copper color with a small diminished head of light tan bubbles. Scents of perry and cider. Some mild spices in the background along with something that does not seem very pleasant. A scent that reminds me of apples well past there prime. Candi apple start. with caramel and sweet apples. Dries out slightly in the middle with some cloves and mace. A little bit of tart apples skins near the finish. Perhaps a bit of pale malt in the finish as well that seems to remind me of pie crust. Drinkable, but I keep getting some flavors that just don’t fit well, like pineapple juice that’s been in the can too long. Just not into this one. fredandboboflo (1431), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 14, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of sweet apples, heavily-spiced cider. Very nice, but also quite one-dimensional. Flavor didn’t really work. I’d be much happier reporting it was also nice though one dimensional, but instead the malt (and not a very exciting malt) begins to subdue the apple/spice components, and whatever minimal hopping seems to be in this beer really clashes with the sweet, soft apple tones, as there is a very out-of-place bitterness here as well. Mouthfeel could also be fuller and less juice-like. Not terrible, but certainly disappointing. LilBeerDoctor (1531), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 12, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a small white head. Aroma of cider, apple pie, cinnamon, apples, and potpourri. Flavor of spiced apple, sweet fruits, perfume. Palate is a bit weak, but the beer did grow on me as I drank it. Certainly a unique and interesting beer. With a stronger palate, this could be a really good apple/cider ale.
