Commercial Description:
BARE TREES WEISS WINE VINTAGE 2000 is the first in our limited edition “Artist: series of champagne bottle seasonals. This Barley Wine style ale is the only one brewed to 24.5 Plato, with 57% wheat, boiled for three hours, pitched with or German Hefe-Weizen yeast, finished with a Scottish ale yeast, and then aged with oak. The resulting product is extremely complex with flavors of melon, fleshy fruits, such as peach and apricot, vanilla, caramel, oak, spicy black pepper notes, and subtle esters. These flavors come in a large part, from the raw ingredients and will vary from vintage to vintage. BARE TREES WEISS WINE VINTAGE 2000 is ready to drink now but, like fine wine, will age very well for the next several years. As it ages, the flavor complexities will continue to mature and change. So, whether you decide to enjoy a bottle upon its release or many years from now, the brewers at Two Brothers offer up a heart CHEERS!

750 mL capped bottle (~5 years old), sampled in a vertical tasting with the ’01, ’02 and ‘03: generous ivory head above an orange golden body – the head diminishes, but a constant stream of bubbles rises though out the body. Winey, alcohol laced aroma with a whiskey-ish malt component. Palate is smooth, with a hint of tingly carbonation. Flavours are a bit sweet, with sticky caramel, almonds and toasted malts. Finish is actually a bit spicy with bit nutmeg and all spice. I would rate this 2nd out of the four…

Thanks to TannerTavernBoys for this one! Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color. Huge white head, lots of lace around the glass. Aroma is sour wheat, lemons, and a little bit of malt. Flavor is very sweet, smooth, lots of wheat and lemon/spice flavor, with a sour finish/kick.

Thanks be to Tannertavernboys (Keith) for sharing this fine beer. Great nose, full of spices and fruit. The taste was just about the same with more mellon and such. Very cool. Thanks a bunch!

Thanks to the Tanner Tavern boys! This had an aroma that was sour like a flemish brown with banana, spices, wheat. The appearance was murky, liquified caramel. Was bubbling like crazy. fully diminishing head. The flavor was of melon, apricots, black pepper, green tobacco. Very artistic, just not for me. The palate was sweet and full bodied.

Aged very nicely. Opened this at a ratebeer party and spread the beer around. Nice cloudy color with a sweet and spicy aroma. The taste is full of flavor and the apricot, spice, and smokey notes take charge. Not bitter after 5 years and is very smooth. Wish I had more of these, but I enjoyed it while it lasted.

Only had a couple bottles o’ this and liked it a lot. Very interesting idea of weiss wine and I recall they pulled it off in more accesibile way than most traditional barley wines. Wish I could remember more. Hope this is’nt Alzheimers.

Poured a nice hue of orangish red, monster amounts of head that was beige in color. First whiff had me recoiling as a strong acrid smell was waiting. First taste has a fruity taste with a toffe like finish and then you taste the alcohol. Different than most barley wines but a great one indeed.

750 ml bottle, The Great Montreal Barley Wine Blowout with asheft, beerbuzzmontreal, MartinT, tiggmtl, Rastacouere and Yowie, #1. Light muddy copper with a bit of off-white head...luscious caramel, a bit of yeast, banana and dried fruit in the wonderful nose...hugely malty and sweet-flavored, butterscotch with touches of cherry and banana, very thick and full with a touch of late alcohol and sourness that helps to keep things in balance. Lovely, easily the best of the series.
