Commercial Description:
BARE TREES WEISS WINE VINTAGE 2000 is the first in our limited edition “Artist: series of champagne bottle seasonals. This Barley Wine style ale is the only one brewed to 24.5 Plato, with 57% wheat, boiled for three hours, pitched with or German Hefe-Weizen yeast, finished with a Scottish ale yeast, and then aged with oak. The resulting product is extremely complex with flavors of melon, fleshy fruits, such as peach and apricot, vanilla, caramel, oak, spicy black pepper notes, and subtle esters. These flavors come in a large part, from the raw ingredients and will vary from vintage to vintage. BARE TREES WEISS WINE VINTAGE 2000 is ready to drink now but, like fine wine, will age very well for the next several years. As it ages, the flavor complexities will continue to mature and change. So, whether you decide to enjoy a bottle upon its release or many years from now, the brewers at Two Brothers offer up a heart CHEERS!

4-year old bottle. Orange amber in color, rather clear except for a few stray floaties. The head is very small and dissipates after a few moments. Sweet candish aroma, with many Belgianesque qualities, including ripened red plums, maple syrup, musty cardboard, honey, and slight alcohol. Mellow hop flavor is sweet and woody, with honeydew melon and honey intermixed, capped off with a small alcoholic nip. Simply delicious at room temperature.

Only had a couple bottles o’ this and liked it a lot. Very interesting idea of weiss wine and I recall they pulled it off in more accesibile way than most traditional barley wines. Wish I could remember more. Hope this is’nt Alzheimers.

First question I asked myself is what glassware to have this in...it's listed as a Barley Wine but then again, it is still a wheat at heart. For better or worse, I went with a hefe glass. The hue is hazy copper, really beautiful color. The head was very small (like a barley wine). A large ripe fruit and oak aroma attacks the nose. So many tones...apricot, starfruit, banana, clove, cask oak, vanilla. Vinous, a unique aroma in every sniff. Initially very sweet tasting, followed by a twangy and tropical hop presence, finishing with a spicy and banana undertone. Truly wonderful! As full bodied as beer you ever see that is using weizen yeast, oily and soft mouthfeel, dry metallic feel. The alcohol is completely masked. Smooth yet complex, this "barley wine" was right up my alley. Have a 2001, which I will taste later in the year. A great take on the style, now one of my favorites.

Hazy reddish orange-copper with a patchy styrofoam head and little yeast balls at the bottom of the glass. Sweet grape, raisin, woody-cherry and hints of butterscotch in the nose. Surprisingly little alcohol aroma. Sweet and spicy malt flavour with some caramel, grape juice and some piney hops flavour. All topped off with a pinch of cinnamon and a bitter punch at the end. Full bodied with lots of CO2 and very smooth from the sweetness. The only obvious contributions of wheat in this beer is the full body and haziness. Excellent beer. Thanks

Tan/amber, hazy, big head; nose - fruit, spices (ginger, mace), malts (cookie dough). Complex palate - chocolate, plums, apples, black pepper, hot from the oven biscuits. Warm, firm, complex.

750 ml bottle, The Great Montreal Barley Wine Blowout with asheft, beerbuzzmontreal, MartinT, tiggmtl, Rastacouere and Yowie, #1. Light muddy copper with a bit of off-white head...luscious caramel, a bit of yeast, banana and dried fruit in the wonderful nose...hugely malty and sweet-flavored, butterscotch with touches of cherry and banana, very thick and full with a touch of late alcohol and sourness that helps to keep things in balance. Lovely, easily the best of the series.

This poured out of the bottles with a thick, tan head, nice golden color and a strong, clove spicey hefe-weisen aroma. There is a sweet, winey/sherry flavor that is nicely tempered with spicey tones. Just enough hops to balance the malts, and all of it very subtle. The alcohol is very present without being distracting. A very interesting twist on a barley wine.

4 year old champagne bottle. Very low carbonation with no head, light brown in color. Aroma is vinous and full of wheat yeast. Wheat beer taste up front with a lasting sweetness. Slight black pepper taste is the aftertaste. Alcohol is very well hidden. Reminded me of Aventius.
