Commercial Description:
Bare Tress Weiss Beer is a unique Barley Wine Style Ale. It is brewed with 57% wheat, 43% barley, and German hops. We boil the 25.2 Plato wort for three hours. Then we start the fermentation with our Hefe Weizen yeast and finish it with a Scottish Ale yeast. Bare Tree is then oak aged for over one year before its release. The resulting product is extremely complex with flavors of caramel, melon, apricot, vanilla, oak, black pepper, and subtle banana. The flavors come in large part from the raw ingredients and this will vary from year to year. Bare Tree is ready to drink now, but like wine, will age in the bottle for the next several years. So, whether you decide to enjoy a bottle now or wait many years, the Two Brothers family offer a toast: “Within ever bare tree lives the promise of a new life.” CHEERS.

Awesome beer. A wheat beer lover’s dream. No alcohol bite for a 10% beer. A thick wheaty flavor, no clove, but malty and wheaty. Awesome. Oak highlights in flavor. Full bodied and well balanced. I’m impressed.

Orange gold color. Small head. Aroma is fruity, malty and sweet. Touches of smoke. A medium bodied barley wine. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity. Very nice beer. Touches of orange, bubble gum and alcohol. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

This brew pours with an orange body with lots of floaters, topped by a medium thick head with a good amount of lacing. The aroma is sweet and malty with alcohol notes and a touch of caramel. The flavor is sweet, malty and full of candy sugar wtih a touch of alcohol and spice. Full bodied, smooth and slightly numbing.

Traces of bubblegum surfacing from frome pine, candi sugar, and vinious malts. Almost belgian in charactor with a grainy sweet charactor. Tons of wheat and sweet malts, cloves, and bread wich trails into the finnish.

Clear orange-gold body with some white froth on top. Apricot, red grape skin and white wine in the aroma. There’s a slight hop twang that hits your nose. Ample carbonation in the palate, I think the mouthfeel could be a bit thicker to compliment the big flavors. Speaking of which, there’s wheat, pear, and some brown sugar. Hoppy finish with toffee, as well as a slight lactic acid tartness. The flavor might have been a bit simplistic - but it was still very enjoyable. An excellent beer, thanks go to JCapriotti for sharing his bottle!

Soapy white head, bright gold color. Nice brown sugary, honey, grape aroma, with some light hops, light alcohol, and barely some wheat. A little watery, but good flavor. Wheat, blueberry, some bubblegum, hoppy finish. Not sure what kind of hops, but damn good and appropriate for the beer. Reminds me of toned down Big Foot hops. I’d say a piney wood flavor. Soft carbonation, but again, thin mouthfeel.

This beer was sampled at the San Diego Real Ale Festival 2004 thanks to Dr. Bill. This beer, the 2001 version, poured a cloudy yellow and amber color with a soapy and highly unrelenting white head. The aroma is filled with caramel malts, vanilla, and tons of fruity esters. This was definitely one of the most SMOOTH beers I’ve ever had with sweet vanilla, fruity nectars, a touch of bubblegum and a dry bready malty finish. This beer is so simple and yet incredibly complex and smooth after three years of aging. I was very surprised how good this was, especially given that it had little to no alcohol presence!

2001 bottle. A yeast and wheat aroma were the main things I found. A hazy orange body with a small white head. Malty taste mixed with the yeast and wheat. Also got some spices near the end as well.
