Commercial Description:
This unique Barley Wine Style beer is brewed iwth 57% wheat, 43% barley, and German hops. We boil the 25.2 Plato wort for three hours. Then we start the fermentation with our Hefe Weizen yeast and finish it with a Scottish Ale yeast. Bare Tree is then oak aged for over one year before its release. The resulting product is extremely complex with flavors of caramel, melon, apricot, vanilla, oak, black pepper, and subtle banana. The flavors come in large part from the raw ingredients and this will vary from year to year. Bare Tree is ready to drink now, but like wine, will age in the bottle for the next several years. So, whether you decide to enjoy a bottle now or wait many years, the Two Brothers family offer a toast: "With every bare tree lives the promise of a new life." CHEERS. The 2002 vintage was aged in whisky and wine barrels.

2006. 750ml bottle. Sedimented with an amber hue. Spotty bone white head. Floral yeasty aromas. Touch of apples and bright fruit aromas. Medium bodied with a sticky malt flavor. Sugary with a nice burn. Floral flavors and cola notes. Spicy peppery hop flavors. Cocoa malty with a rather effervescent mild burn. Alcohol is well integrated. The bitterness shines as it warms. Sticky and long. Interesting and layered. Nice complexity.

2006 vintage. Pours reddish orange. Malty on the nose with notes of malt and oak. Creamy on the palate with notes of malt, dried fruits and oak. Finishes malty and sweet. Not too bad.

Poured a vibrant red orange color with a small white head. Aroma was a light mix of oak, vanilla, and bananas. Flavor was of wheaty, malty, fruity, capri suns, and some sweetness. Pretty good overall and the 11% wasnt as noticable as i thought it would be for this.

2006 bottle. Caramel aroma, some oak, vanilla. Pours copper. I’m not huge barley wine fan but this beer is awesome. Good caramel flavor hints of banana and oak, with vanilla notes. So good.

Sampled at Delilah’s Vintage Beer Fest 2007. Vintages 03 and 06. Pours a copper color with a beige head. 06 aroma is malty, carmel, citrus, grapefruit, and oak. The 03 had no remanants of the above and was all but faded. Layered flavors of carmel, pine, fruit, oak, bitterness. The 03 was once again faded with some carmel, pine, surpisingly still bitter, but watery and papery. Bottle condition this, please, it would be so much better. 7/4/8/3/14 = 3.6

750 ml bottle from 2005. Sampled thanks to drewbeerme. Pours a orange red with a white head. Fruity nose. Peaches, plums, pear, apple, and caramels. Fruity flavors with a sour funkiness that surrounds it. Seemingly decent but I tire of it with a single pour. 7/4/7/3/13

2007 bottle. Hazy orange beer with a fast fading white head. Aroma is unusually tart and sweet at the same time. A lightly rancid overripe peach/apricot sweetness. There is a bit of ethanol and a very sticky sweetness. The fruitiness isn’t really that compelling or tasty, nor is anything else about this beer.. Meh... not a great beer. 2004 bottle. Hazy orange beer, thin white head. Sweet aroma, a bit of bubble gum, apricot and peach. Very wheaty character, moderate bitterness but little in the way of hop aroma. Creamy body, light apricot. Nice enough brew. 8 4 7 3 14

Thanks to Arjoseph for sharing this bottle at the Nashville tasting. Poured an amber color with an off-white head that left some lacing. The aroma was of clove and banana. The flavor was sweet and had banana, clove, ginger, and light malts. Medium body. Very enjoyable.

Thanks to Arjoseph for sharing this one at the Nashville tasting. A huge aroma of cinnamony spruciness. A huge amber pour with a nice lacing. A flavor of clove and light malts and fruits (bannana)? A smooth even palate that was just a tad to fizzy for my taste. An overall good beer that was easy to drink.
