Kind of interesting to watch a bottle of beer continuously foam out the top into the bathtub... Poured a murky orange color with a towering head. Very spicy aroma with some odd sourness to it. Woah. More sour in the taste. It reminded me of a lighter sour wheat version of a gueuze. The spice turns into a raw pepper assult. A small barley finish? Tasty, but a strange barley wine. Fruity and spicy aromas of bananas, cloves and vanilla. Wheat flavor with pear, vanilla and bubblegum. Full bodied with a full and thick mouthfeel, soft carbonation, finishes sweet and mildly sour, alcohol well hidden, very nice. humulus (338), Salem, Missouri, USA

It certainly tastes wheaty with loads of bananna and clove yeastiness. The malt is dry and smooth and clean. The flavor is rich yet mellow and easy. Bananna esters dominate and a hop bitterness seals the deal. Pours cloudy and light brown. Overall, very nice and very unique. Reminds me of Franziskaner dunkle-weiss. Light, cloudy apricot...very fruity and much more wheaty/estery than the earlier batches, without any real hop sharpness in the nose...body sour, citrusy (orange-lemon), light and almost crisp...juicy, long sour finish. Not a patch on the ’00, but interesting and different, and worth having in its own right. asheft (1438), Marburg, Germany
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 17, 2005 Yellowy brown-orange with a sudsy head that quickly dissipates. Some yeast balls at the bottom of the glass. Aroma rife with woody cherry, some spicy caramel malt, and pine hops. The flavour is bitter right up front closely followed by a sourness that comes from the wheat malt, and then some buttery flavour. At the very end there’s a little hops bitterness punch. Explosive carbonation and medium body. I got some woody astringency from this one. Still, very pleasant.
