Commercial Description:
This unique Barley Wine Style beer is brewed iwth 57% wheat, 43% barley, and German hops. We boil the 25.2 Plato wort for three hours. Then we start the fermentation with our Hefe Weizen yeast and finish it with a Scottish Ale yeast. Bare Tree is then oak aged for over one year before its release. The resulting product is extremely complex with flavors of caramel, melon, apricot, vanilla, oak, black pepper, and subtle banana. The flavors come in large part from the raw ingredients and this will vary from year to year. Bare Tree is ready to drink now, but like wine, will age in the bottle for the next several years. So, whether you decide to enjoy a bottle now or wait many years, the Two Brothers family offer a toast: "With every bare tree lives the promise of a new life." CHEERS. The 2002 vintage was aged in whisky and wine barrels.

Slightly cloudy amber color. Aroma is light sour, wheat and pepper. Flavor is earthy, mild sour, black pepper, and a touch of wheat. Its a pretty subtle one. Flavors are muted and not all that I was hoping.

2008. Golden orange color with a white head. Wheat and belgian yeast, taffy, orange peel, spices, slight mustiness, alcohol. Flavor is somewhere in between a saison, barley wine, and tripel. Funky and acidic finish. Citric. Misclassified in my opinion.

Nice orange-amber color with a sweet aroma of pears, peaches, and sugar. Flavor is sugary with lots of tangerine and canned pears with some oranges and spice. Not bad at all, but Wheat wines always seem one dimensional.

Rotten Apple tasting. Aroma is applesauce and is lightly sour. Flavor is complex. Fruit, malt, hop, a hodge podge. Light and so easy to drink. A dangerous beer in that is is so delicious, so easy to drink, and 11% ABV. Very nice! Will look for a bottle or two of this one. I loved the complexity.

Delilahs Vintage Tasting. THIS IS A BARLEY WINE? WTF!!! Poured crisp clear golden, lager/ sesion like. Some head and lacing. Aroma Tart, sugar and sweet. Taste similar, first Barleywine to taste and act like this. Different but still enjoyable, a tricky one at 11%.

750mL 2007 bottle poured into a tulip. Labeled "Barley Wine Style Weiss Bier" Pours a slightly hazy and very bright orange amber underneath a large pillowy white head that stayed on as a big cap with tons of carbonation streaming up from the bottom. Good lacing. The aroma is very sweet with lots of pears and apples, with a slight tartness. There is some wheat sweetness in the back and touches of citrus as well. The taste is similar to the aroma but with less of the sour undertones than the aroma. There are some initial lemon notes before the sweetness of the wheat and light fruits, especially apples. The citrus comes back a bit in the finish with an ever-so-slight tart bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with lots of carbonation and generally sticky sweet. This is an interesting beer and I don’t have a lot of other wheatwines to compare it to. That said, I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

2007 750ml. thanks to JW77! Served into Dos Equis pint glass. Pour is a cloudy golden color with virtualy no head at all. Aroma consists of sweet malts, grapes, old funk, spices, and a slight vanilla hint. Flavor is very smooth with sweet fruits, sweet malt, oak, and grapes. It is very bubbly and easy drinking. After two sips im very pleased.

750mL bottle, 2005 vintage. Poured thicker-viscosity medium orange with a short-lived cap of white head. The aroma picked up aged caramel accented by peppery spices, banana esters, and a persistent, but complementary sourness (wheat-inspired).. warmth brought out a bouquet of floral and fruity notes.. very well done! The flavor found caramel and light fruity meat at the core with sweeter banana not far out.. white pepper, cloves, sour wheat, and vanilla danced well on the edges.. finished with a fine sweet/sour contrast. Heavier-bodied with low carbonation on the palate.. not overly sweet, and it masked the alcohol particularly well. Excellent stuff!
