drpimento (785), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Sep 15, 2009 This was served with a small light tan head and a little lace. Color is a fairly hazy very dark mahoganey. Aroma was roasty dark malt, pumpernickle rye, a little dark ripe fruit, and not a lot of spice. Flavor is dominated by tartness, then a little bittersweetness, the above aroma characteristics and a little nuttiness. Body is ok, a bit sharp. Finish is mainly dark sour malt. Nothing special, but not too bad. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Aug 21, 2009 Bottle. Very dark pour with a gigantic tight foam head. The aroma is sweet and laced with bananas, for sure. The flavor doesn’t match up though -- more sweet bread tahn anything, almost raisiny, tart, almost a hint of pumpernickel even. (#3647, 8/21/2009) troyc (1173), Lubbock, Texas, USA Aug 5, 2009 [Tap] Sample notes from January 2009. Pours a clear brown color with a small tan head. Caramel and dark grains in the aroma. A dry chocolate note as well. Average mouthfeel and body. The taste is a little more spicy, with clove and some cocoa in there. Vanilla and banana notes were a little more prevalent in the finish. A pretty good beer. blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 1, 2009 bottle, pecan colored with tall tan foam, aroma is fruit and dry, flavor is sour cherry, leather, wheat , nice finish CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jul 31, 2009 Bottle: Pours a transparent dark copper amber with a thin, wispy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of toasty dark caramel and malted wheat with some light clove and doughy yeast. Starts fairly full with a sticky maltiness, mild sweetness and lemon citrus tartness before a toasty biscuity finish. Would be better without the tartness and a crisper finish, but still a decent example of the style. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Jul 30, 2009 1/11/2009: Two Brothers Bonfire Dunkle Weiss... Aroma: Mostly yeatly, some toasted wheat. Appearance: Nice brown color with ample beige head that is dense and lasting; high level of visible carbonation. Flavor: Fruity; on the sweeter side; nice roasty and slightly dry finish. Palate: Mediumb body; smooth. Overall: Decent but not unique.
1 Pint 6 fl. oz. bottle (16.1° lator, 15.1 IBU, 6.2% Alc/Vol) from The Andersen’s General Store in Maumee, Ohio. Rating #61 for this beer.
WallyWalrus (205), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jul 22, 2009 22oz bomber. Pours a extremely dark brown with a crema colored head. Aroma is very mild, with roasted malt and spices alongside hints of hops and grain. Taste is creamy and medium-bodied, with a body of smoke and roasted malt ending on a finish of vanilla, banana, yeast, and spices. Neat flavors, but I wish they were a bit more prominent. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jul 21, 2009 Mildly hazy mahogany with a large tan head, tough to fill up my glass without a lot of foam coming out. Mild aroma of caramel malt, grains, light chocolate and just a hint of the weizen part of the equation (banana, clove and yeast). Flavors aren’t particularly strong either with some sweet malt, mild banana and yeast wrapped up in an over carbonated body. Ho-hum effort on this one.
