Pours a deep dark muddled brown with a fading off white head. aroma is a dark caramel wheat character, with a hefe yeast that has gone overboard towards the phenolic side of the spectrum almost to make me think this had a smokeyness to it- and almost turns medicinal. Flavor is a bit of dark and dry bittersweet chocolate, some cara wheat and harsh chocolate wheat character, tons of phenolic medicinal yeastiness, which gets smokey, earthy, plasticy and a bit gritty somehow. nto all that smooth either from the phenol content. meh. chicagodri (1076), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 18, 2009 Pours a very dark brown with a tan head. Nice aroma of wheat, and a lot of malt. It was a little thin, but it had some nice flavor. I think Piece’s Dunkle Weiss is a little better done, but this was still a fine beer. I am starting to like Two Brothers a little more. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 15, 2009 Picked this one up at Rozi’s a few weeks ago. Pour is a nice dark dark brown, pretty much black. Aroma is a very rich malty sweetness; robust with a very earthy side and a hint of chocolate. Flavor is just the right balance of light earthy malt sweetness and really no bitterness. This has really goes down well, doesn’t dominate the palate, and is going perfect with a salad and bread on a frigid winter night. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 12, 2009 Brown, wheaty flavor that kind of sits like light syrup. Not a favored style or a favored brewer. Ok overall for a Weiss. drubel2 (12), Champaign, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 7, 2009 22oz bottle from Binny’s Liquor Depot. Pours dark brown with a large cream head. Surprisingly thin mouthfeel. Sour, wheaty flavor, with very little of the "bonfire" that I was so looking forward to. Tmoney99 (4800), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 6, 2009 Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured a hazy brown color with a large light brown head that was mostly lasting and produced good lacing. Good toasted malt, chocolate and spice aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Good dunkel bittersweet flavor with an average sweet finish of moderate duration.
Good drinkable brew. JPDIPSO (4944), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jan 4, 2009 Chestnut and ruby hued liquid. Modest old bone colored head. Certainly smells like a dunkelweizen. Caramel, lightly roasted malts, grapenuts, hints of bananas, just a bit of earthy ash. Very good scent by style. Bit thin and metallic in feel. Flavors follow the feel slightly. Dark caramel, roasted bananas, dark cocoa and hints of charred oak. A bit thin and simple in the flavor, but a decent light brew by style.
