Tasted 12/6/08. 22oz bomber. Relatively clear with an off-white ring of head. Medium bodied and crisp. Good esters. Caramel malts and banana yeast. Good meld between the ingredients. Tart. Gets better as it warms.

Pours a dark, slightly cloudy brown with a resilient light tan head. Bready, citrusy aroma. Sweet malt and caramel taste, yet dry mouthfeel. Interesting interpretation of the style. Well balanced and flavorful.

Bottle from tytoanderso. Pours dark brown with a thin white head. Smells of caramel, some fruity hints. Tastes tarte and sweet with some nice spicy hints. Very enjoyable.

Pours brown with a creamy tan head. The nose has some creamy raisin and light banana notes. The flavor reminds me of maple and brown sugar oatmeal without the gloppy texture. Still, a nice full velvety body, and a soft finish with a bit of roast. Not bad at all.

Pour is a dark cloudy brown with a small tan head. Aroma is not big and offers bread yeast. Flavor is a bit funky sour with banana, clove, dark bread, and caramel. It has an old recipe feel to it. Feel is medium and zesty with a dark chocolate bitterness. The funkiness never leaves and everything is secondary. Interesting.

Bomber from Binny-apostrophe-s in Orland Park, IL. Curious choice for a limited-run series "in styles that are more extreme or unusual." The bottle also has the curious message, "Gets the toast right." Anywhat - It poured a clear chestnut body with a tall, spongey pale tan head and leaves a limited-run of spotty lacework. The aroma is light and smells of banana bread with some raisins and chocolate. I miss the raisins in the flavor, never caught the advertised close, but did pick up some burnt toast. Okay, but I will definitely pass on having this with marshmallows.

22oz bottle in a Melbourn Bros glass. It pours with a thick, dark brown color and a medium head that slowly fades and leaves a thick, snowbank-like lacing on the sides of the glass. Aroma is definitely dunkelweizen with the signature earthy and estry mix for the style. More specifically, light brown banana with muddy leaves/wet forest and a bit of bark. Taste is is a bit more stripped down earthiness with weak esters and just a bit too commercial and empty. More specifically, lightly plastic and faintly sweet raisin-y bread on a wet dark day. Leaves a slight black banana bread aftertaste. An average mouthfeel and carbonation. Nice stab but I would like a bit more flair next in this one.

22 oz. bottle. Good lightly sweet smell, subdued weizen esters beneath slight chocolate and coffee roast. Coca-Cola dark with a bumpy head once I properly pour down the side. Taste has a nice soft texture, a surprising bit of tart cherry. Malts are surprisingly bready, with dark roasts softened by wheat. Don’t think this is being properly labeled, as “Bonfire” would imply smoke, and meantime, I’m finding little chocolate. But this is still a nice beer.
