Commercial Description:
Bonfire Dunkle Weiss is one of a series of special limited-run beers in styles that are more extreme or unusual. This one’s a unique dark wheat beer with a delicious toasty character, just like fall. We brought the chocolate, so don’t forget the marshmallows! ""Bonfire Dunkle Weiss is a big, toasty and chocolaty version of our Ebel’s Weiss. This beer has subtle clove, banana, vanilla, and caramel notes along with a nice malt sweetness. It is perfect for those cool fall nights. We bring the chocolate you bring the marshmallows.""

Bottle: Pours a transparent dark copper amber with a thin, wispy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of toasty dark caramel and malted wheat with some light clove and doughy yeast. Starts fairly full with a sticky maltiness, mild sweetness and lemon citrus tartness before a toasty biscuity finish. Would be better without the tartness and a crisper finish, but still a decent example of the style.

Bottle from tytoanderso. Pours dark brown with a thin white head. Smells of caramel, some fruity hints. Tastes tarte and sweet with some nice spicy hints. Very enjoyable.

Bomber from Binny-apostrophe-s in Orland Park, IL. Curious choice for a limited-run series "in styles that are more extreme or unusual." The bottle also has the curious message, "Gets the toast right." Anywhat - It poured a clear chestnut body with a tall, spongey pale tan head and leaves a limited-run of spotty lacework. The aroma is light and smells of banana bread with some raisins and chocolate. I miss the raisins in the flavor, never caught the advertised close, but did pick up some burnt toast. Okay, but I will definitely pass on having this with marshmallows.

Chestnut and ruby hued liquid. Modest old bone colored head. Certainly smells like a dunkelweizen. Caramel, lightly roasted malts, grapenuts, hints of bananas, just a bit of earthy ash. Very good scent by style. Bit thin and metallic in feel. Flavors follow the feel slightly. Dark caramel, roasted bananas, dark cocoa and hints of charred oak. A bit thin and simple in the flavor, but a decent light brew by style.

Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured a hazy brown color with a large light brown head that was mostly lasting and produced good lacing. Good toasted malt, chocolate and spice aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Good dunkel bittersweet flavor with an average sweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable brew.

Bomber. Nearly black body with rusty brown edges. the Thick light khaki head stuck around for a while. Toast and light bubblegum were smells that mixed with some peach. There was also sour campfire character, like something burning had a tart note. The taste was like a chocolate bar melted on toast with some bubblegum added for a finish. The light roasted character helped to keep this balanced. The playful carbonation helps to get the smoke easier to tolerate in this one. While they do not call this a smoked beer I think that there is a definite smoke character.

Bottle: Deep mahogany hue with a fluffy tan head and spotty lacing. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel and bready vapours with a pear, banana, bubblegum phenolic esters. The taste starts fruity and chewy with lots of roasty malt and powerful yeast character. Woody and dry finish with a hint of smoke, chocolate, and allspice. Soft yet carbonated mouth feel which works with the flavor profile. Very well done brew and Mikey Likey for sure.

Tap @ Barcade. Poured a brown color with a small beige head. Very mild smoke with phenolics that bordered between pepper and plastic. The flavor was a mix of fruit and smoke. Light-medium body.
