Commercial Description:
Eight malts add depth and complexity, while English hops contribute a refreshing balance to this crisp and drinkable mild brown ale - a true "session" brew.

Head is initially small, frothy, light brown. Body is medium brown. Aroma is lightly malty (nuts, toasted bread, caramel), lightly hoppy (orange). Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Sourness leads the flavor profile, and has that infected tang to it. Not enjoyable.

Chestnut/cedar color. Fizzy,off-white,head. Settles into a nice creamy head.Great lace.Aroma is very nutty, slightly toasty, and metallic. Watery texture, creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is somewhat empty in the mouth, except for the metallic malts and some toast. Finish is slightly roasty/nutty with some subtle, leafy, hops. There is a small sourness to the malts. Freshness could be a issue here, but everything tastes fresh.I like low alcohol, easy drinking, beers but this one is boring.

medium brown color with a tint of red.small ultra fast fading head.Malty aroma with a slight sweet side and mild hop presence. The taste is roasty malt with a slight sour side and very mild hops with a mild caramel presence. The after taste is roasty and quite mild for the hops mildly sweet and little else. The feel is thin and watery.it is a drinkable brew by all means but it is also a very forgettable brew with little to offer IMO.

Reddish brown with a nutty, sweet nose. Malt is mixed caramel and smokey/peated. Hops is subdued, grassy then somewhat floral in the nose as it warms. Sweet aftertaste leaves faint nutty notes. Drink all night at 4%!!!

berry and hop aroma, blood red with no head, burnt maltiness, solid body, berry and wood notes, pretty big for a session beer

A nice mild, with good medium brown color, tan head, and a good, lightly nutty flavor.

Never had a mild ale before. Very dark color, looking through the bottom corner of the glass it looks deep reddish. Thin head, but lasting. First sniffs where hop heavy, but now I’m getting an almost stoutish scent. There’s a bit of that kind of malt and coffee/chocolate smell. By golly it tastes a little like that as well. It’s like a milder stout with more hops. Not too bad! Updated April 11, 2005: Well I rated this a 4 last time around and now having a chance to revisit, it needs to be lowered. The aroma is still a nice blend of chestnut, walnut and wood, but the taste is pretty brutal for a brown. Dry leaves, dirt, earth... it’s almost gritty.

Nice session brew. Nice malty and nutty taste. Good example of the style.
